During the early months of Covid-19 vaccinations, several major demographic groups lagged in receiving shots, including Black Americans, Latino Americans and Republican voters.
More recently, the racial gaps while still existing have narrowed. The partisan gap, however, continues to be enormous. A Pew Research Center poll last month found that 86 percent of Democratic voters had received at least one shot, compared with 60 percent of Republican voters.
The political divide over vaccinations is so large that almost every reliably blue state now has a higher vaccination rate than almost every reliably red state:

(30,613 posts)On the first part of your guess, they are wrong. Their party is shrinking. On the second part, that's up to Joe Manchin and Joe Biden at this point.

(45,657 posts)But I keep thinking of that old quote: No one ever got broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people.
And the mechanisms to cheat are now being carefully crafted at the state level across the country.
By now, we realize that the GOP/Putin are ruthless sociopaths who will stop at nothing to gain power, control and wealth.
So it is going to be an uphill battle for the Dems to stop them.

(30,613 posts)There is always a significant percentage of idiots in our population. However, they are being killled off at a higher rate than sane people; it's hard to recruit fresh idiots from the surviving less-idiotic population.

(30,663 posts)sorry, can't bring myself to discourage them. The instant karma is just too much fun to watch. Too bad people have to die, but this is the very definition of shooting yourself in the foot rather than a shot in the shoulder. Cowards! Children!
I urge EVERYONE to crawl up into the 1950s and get vaccinated, for the good of the country.
For the good of humanity. If we wind up with a lot fewer idiots, that is not all bad.

(11,617 posts)My favorite bit from the article is the Breitbart columnist who argues that pushing the vaccine is a liberal plot. Apparently Republicans will reject anything coming from the left. So, hes basically insulting his readers: theyre too stupid to see through this plot and are putting themselves and their families at risk in hopes of pwning the libs.
