Some COVID-19 Patients Want Ivermectin So Badly They're Taking Hospitals To Court

When the suburban Chicago hospital where her mother was being treated for COVID-19 refused to give her ivermectin, Tiffany Wilson had her moved to another hospital. The antiparasitic drug achieved a cult following as a treatment for COVID-19, despite no current evidence it is effective. But that didn’t deter Wilson from suing when the next hospital also refused to give her mother, 68-year-old Leslie Pai, ivermectin. And she won. This week, after the hospital obliged a judge’s injunction ordering it to give Pai ivermectin, Pai’s heart rate plummeted, hospital doctors said in court documents. The hospital pushed back in court, and Wilson dropped the case, with her lawyers asking the court to lift the injunction while continuing to argue that the ivermectin was, in fact, helping.

What’s most remarkable about Wilson’s story is that it’s not the only one of its kind. In recent months, there have been multiple cases of patients or their families demanding ivermectin as a treatment for COVID-19, not only going to court but also harassing hospital staff. And in at least seven instances, judges have granted these requests, ordering hospitals to either administer the drug or allow other physicians into the facility to administer it. These incidents mark a new era of the pandemic: As hospitals struggle under the weight of new COVID-19 cases, they are also being forced to fight this new battle spurred by an avalanche of fear and online misinformation. The infodemic has officially arrived in the ICU.

“I’ve never encountered this and I’ve been in practice over 40 years,” said Dr. Rodney Hood, who chairs the National Medical Association’s COVID-19 Task Force on Vaccines and Therapeutics.

In some instances, hospitals refusing to treat patients with ivermectin have faced protests. One case in particular garnered a sizable public response. In 2016, Veronica Wolski, then a 59-year-old Chicagoan, first drew public attention when she waved Bernie Sanders signs from a pedestrian bridge over a highway. Over the last five years, her occupation of the bridge continued but her message shifted to promote the QAnon conspiracy theory, the Big Lie and anti-vaccine sentiments — endearing her to the alt-right. And then recently, after Wolski was hospitalized with COVID-19, supporters on QAnon-focused Telegram channels shared contact information for the hospital and began a campaign of calling and emailing to demand Wolski receive ivermectin. This was amplified when L. Lin Wood, the pro-Trump lawyer who filed a number of lawsuits challenging the 2020 election results, got involved, encouraging his followers to do the same.1 The hospital reported hundreds of emails and calls “associated with one patient’s care,” and there was even an in-person protest. Wolski died on Sept. 13.

the "whatever" you want. You don't dictate your heart surgery or bone-setting or cancer treatment methods, what makes you think you can dictate Covid treatment?

A patient and a doctor. If they don’t like the doctor, leave and go somewhere else. You have the right to participate in your care. You do not have the right to dictate it.

and buy the Ivermectin ahead of time, and take it at home.
But of course what they really want is to cause the maximum amount of disruption because Trump. And freedom.
Freedom means making even more trouble for the beleaguered hospital staff.

I am pretty sure many of them are already taking it at home.
I don't thin it's doing them much good.

I've heard about some ODs, but if it's just discomfort and it doesn't work, I'd just as soon they figure that out themselves at home. Not that they would accept the reality.
I just don't want even more of them arriving at the hospitals, now with even more problems because of this drug.

Horse is a much large animal than a human.
So they are overdosing on it.

Certainly you can buy veterinary grade Ivermectin, which is why all of the talk about "Horse Paste". For human grade Ivermectin you need a prescription and while I am not naive enough to believe that all doctors operate with due diligence in line with their Hippocratic Oath, many would not prescribe it unless there is an actual parasitic infection for which other medications had not been effective. Human use of Ivermectin has been limited to river blindness and intestinal roundworm. Topical uses are for head lice and rosacea.

Problem is, if you take Ivermectin, not under the care of an actual treating physician, you will end up in the hospital anyway. Causing disruption as they have to try to save your (not literally you) stupid ass from poisoning yourself.

medical professionals, then these idiots should be (1) not even admitted into the hospital(s), taking up valuable and limited space (2) no other efforts to save these idiots should be wasted (no drugs, no doctors, no nurses, etc., nothing, after all, they alone, are the experts, eh?).

They in effect, are causing these actions to occur themselves. No one else is, eh, interfering with their 'free dumbs'...

In short, okay, go ahead and proclaim your so called constitutional rights, but don't clutter our hospitals, our doctors, etc. while you're dying in the meantime.

In so many states, medical facilities and/or resources are being stretched to the limits. At least the funeral homes can make more room by piling the dead bodies on top of each other.

Lawsuit filed on Friday, the attorney did a shit-ton of research and preparation to file a response. Plaintiff died Sunday afternoon, so we didn't have to file anything, but sheesh! Guy refused to be intubated, blood oxygen levels in the 20s, demanded to be treated with Ivermectin, which the hospital didn't have, family brought in its own tube of Ivermectin which the hospital declined to administer. Talk about your all-around shitshow.

Make them sign a waiver that they are receiving this treatment against medical advice, and do not hold any health care provider responsible for a negative outcome. That way, when the inevitable happens, they can't sue the hospital or doctors for malpractice.

from Hillary derangement syndrome to virus spreading via anti-mask, anti-vaccination virus, QAnon, and ivermectin nuttery, and ended in a hospital mortuary. In December 2017 she explained that she was so upset over the "rigged primary" that she almost voted for Donald Trump but wrote in Bernie Sanders, thus doing her part from beginning to end to bring on and leave the pandemic as her legacy.

But, she was always sincere.
