Republicans successfully prey on the irrationality of Democrats as well as of Republicans

This is the narrative I've been hearing in the news lately, which I agree is true about how voters respond, but I find infuriating:

Democrats have to succeed in passing Biden's agenda, or their chances to win in 2022 (even aside from Republican voter suppression) are slim to none.
Why would they lose? Because they didn't deliver.
Why didn't they deliver? That part doesn't matter.

I was listening to Joy Reid earlier today covering this basic narrative, and she and her guests didn't really care to dig deeper than this. They not only took it for granted, but seemed to think it was perfectly reasonable, for voters to be less motivated to vote for Democrats again if they don't get what they want from Democrats now.

Apparently it's not supposed to matter that Republican obstruction is making it so hard to make progress.

Apparently it's not supposed to matter that the real solution is MORE democrats, not fewer, so we can get rid of the filibuster and overrule the obstructionists in our own party.

Nope. Either Democrats prevail against enormous odds, or they aren't worth being given another chance with better odds. Republicans can and should be rewarded for deliberately harming our country in a cynical plan to seize power.

People like Joy Reid are, as they should be, angry as hell at Republicans for what they are doing. But she, like most political commentators of all sorts, won't ever address the irrationality of voters. Worse, they act like this kind of irrationality isn't just expected, but that it's essentially justifiable.

Yes! The part of why they can't deliver is invisible, as is Republican obstructionism. betsuni Sep 2021 #2

worse yet are certain elected DEMOCRATS who are doing Moscow Mitch's dirty work for him.

A deal was made between Pelosi, Schumer, Biden, progressives and "moderate" democrats. Bernie Sanders and the progressive House caucus have been working WITH Biden to pass both bills and the Democratic agenda. Certain elected Democrats are undermining it and working to block an agenda that Biden needs which will benefit the country and working Americans.

We expect republicons to work against us. But it's truly a disgrace that certain elected dems are working AGAINST Biden's agenda.

The assumption that Democrats could do anything they want: if they don't deliver it means they don't want really want to. Then come endless accusations of both sides/corrupt/beholden/immoral and why bother to vote.

Republicans never had it so good. Used to be that anti-Democratic propaganda only really worked on Republican voters. Now it's leaked everywhere. I blame one person for starting this, getting the lie that Democrats are ideologically/morally bankrupt and corrupt out there.
