A lightbulb went off in my mind and flickered a while.

But while this dim bulb was lit I had an idea. A question really. Could Trump actually believe he can use his "bully boys" and gals to overturn the government and thus the courts when his companies' subpoenas come due in the next couple of weeks? Does he envision a, sort of, big roundup down at the courthouse media moment that would see him exonerated by decree? One aspect of such an idea that gives it some credibility is it's patent absurdity. My lightbulb did not weigh in on his chance of success.

He's never truly been held to account on any of his malfeasance.

I’m sure he really believed it. He doesn’t seem to base any action on past experience

If he actually had led the mob on Jan 6, then he might have stood in the halls of Congress and declared himself President for life. Instead, he wimped out because he's a coward.

11. Undeniably important point, Cartoonist. Cowards are so essentially despised by everyone.

Probably because, at some point, everyone is and we want everybody else to admit it. The difference this time, I think, is that society at large may finally call his bluff. This time it isn't about power or presidency. It's his having to actually show his hand, at long last. Half the country and most of the world wants to see him grovel in public. But since rich people are less likely to face that sort of mind crumbling exposure than those who have no assets, it's more dramatic this time. Everybody's on the edge of their seats.

The very possibility of self-government is at stake, really.

When Trump and his supporters fantasize about "bikers, MMA guys, Proud Boys, ex-cops and ex-military, people who are white AND who are nationalists but "not white nationalists", etc." waging a war to overturn the government, it's practically a sexual fantasy for them.

They're getting deeper and deeper into it, more invested with each passing day. I don't know about success of their plan, but I am sure with each passing day, they will become more and more committed to ideas like that.

Id, Ego, Libido or any number of Greek sounding words. Usually these "primal cry" thoughts remain personal "one-to-self" conversations. Unfortunately these yahoos not only shout out their fantasies, they act on them.
