Stop inhaling hydrogen peroxide to treat COVID, doctors warn

Medical experts are warning the public of a dangerous trend that has been spreading on social media where people are skipping intensive care units and instead treating COVID at home by inhaling hydrogen peroxide through the use of a nebulizer.

Hydrogen peroxide is a mild antiseptic used topically on the skin to prevent infection on minor cuts and wounds. It is also used as a mouthwash to remove mucus or soothe minor mouth irritation. The Mayo Clinic notes that hydrogen peroxide as a solution has been used to kill the COVID-19 virus on surfaces.

But health experts warn that inhaling the antiseptic can be fatal. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America wrote in a blog post on Sept. 21 that inhaling hydrogen peroxide is “dangerous” and “not a way to prevent nor treat COVID-19.”
“DO NOT put hydrogen peroxide into your nebulizer and breathe it in. This is dangerous!” the foundation wrote. “It is not a way to prevent nor treat COVID-19.”

The Agency for Toxic Substances and Registry noted in a fact sheet that
inhalation of hydrogen peroxide can cause irritation in the lungs.
Ingesting the substance can also cause stomach irritation and vomiting.

5. Well hydrogen peroxide is dirt cheap these days. A few dollars for 8 ounces. I was using it to

wipe down surfaces in the beginning of the pandemic. It is less toxic than disinfectant wipes. BUT I was following CDC recommendations that said you could use hydrogen peroxide to wipe things down.

7. My favorite thing they say is "it's good, it's natural" because so is

hemlock. So is poison ivy. So is snake venom.

Lots of poisons are natural. Many chemotherapies are made from the vinca plant. They are very toxic if you don't know how to administer them. You can bleed out from too much aspirin that comes from the bark of trees.

The vaccine deniers who are into all the "natural" crap are often not the trumpy vaccine deniers. A lot of them are liberal dems who are very left of center on the social issues.

I'm surrounded by them. My little area is kind of a new age hot spot...the Sedona of Wisconsin, basically...so about a third of the people I know are of that ilk. The Delta variant is starting to make its way into their little bubbleworld...it'll be interesting to see how it all plays out. I like some of these people as people, so I'll be sad if some of them fall prey to the consequences of paradigm they've bought into.
