Do anti-vax idiots also not get their dogs and cats vaccinated?https://www.cdc.gov/worldrabiesday/index.html
World Rabies Day is an opportunity to reflect on how rabies impacts your community and other communities around the world. Rabies is still present in many parts of the United States where it is often found in wildlife. However, roughly a quarter of reported rabies cases in the United States are a result from dog bites received during international travel. The best way to protect you, your family, and your pets is to keep dogs and cats up-to-date on their rabies vaccinations. You can also protect you and your family by travelling smart, and avoiding contact with dogs and other animals that may have rabies when you travel outside the country. Find out the rabies status of any country using CDCs interactive assessment site.
While rabies is a 100% preventable disease, more than 59,000 people die from the disease around the world each year. World Rabies Day is an opportunity to reflect on our efforts to control this deadly disease and remind ourselves that the fight is not yet over. Major health organizations including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)external icon, the World Health Organization (WHO)external icon, the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE)external icon, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)external icon are working together to eliminate human deaths from dog-transmitted rabies by 2030.

(15,062 posts)A woman I know has never been vaccinated for anything. Her daughter likewise. She also has dogs, a cat, and two pigs (she lives outside of town). Zero vaccinations for any of them.
Needless to say, no Covid vaccine either.

(42,862 posts)... who kept feeding feral cats.... and they kept breeding, and breeding. Crapping everywhere, spraying everywhere. It was a real nuisance. And obviously, NONE of them were vaccinated. Just living "wild" lives and not having to worry much about finding food or predation.
People tried to talk to her and reason with her... explaining the dangers and risks and health hazards (to her AND the community AND other animals) but she didn't care, or didn't understand.
After she died, the feeding stopped (obviously) and some of the animals moved on (or died). Others continued to hang around, but they were trapped by Prince George's County animal control. The older "wild" ones were euthanized and they tried to rehabilitate the younger ones for possible adoption.

One of the feral male cats has become quite friendly after he was neutered. That cat is big and muscular, behaving more like an aggressive bobcat previously. It would even attack the old woman if she got remotely too close, even after it repeatedly observed her putting food and water out there for him.

(24,759 posts)The anti-vax morons who illegally refuse to take their pets to the clinic for their rabies shots are likely the same people who are armed to the teeth, as if they were an army--and a law--unto themselves. And they couldn't care less if their pets contract rabies and bite innocent people, possible killing them.

(115,589 posts)For some, the COVID vax is uniquely bad because TFG tried to make COVID seem like no big deal and the vaccine came to be seen as an evil liberal, statist plot. Other vaccines do not carry that stigma.

(14,852 posts)... they'll even have location chips injected into them.
The fact that only 6% of scientists were Republicans in 2009 -- possibly an even lower percentage now -- has surely made several right-wingers consider science and scientists to be their "enemy" now.
Whether they ever saw the poll themselves, or the message was filtered to them through their right-wing propaganda sources.

adopted dog had all their vaccinations. Meanwhile they refuse the covid vaxx for themselves. At least their dog will survive.

(19,224 posts)They vaccinate their livestock though, because otherwise they'd lose money on sick and dead animals and vet bills.
They're also had their normal vaccines, as have all their kids.
But noooooo, we can't get that Covid shot!
