Oregon approves new congressional (5D-1R) and legislative maps

?s=20

Governor Kate Brown
@OregonGovBrown
For the first time in 40 years, Oregon is gaining a congressional seat––another member to advocate for the common good of all Oregonians. I just signed the redistricting bills passed by the Legislature today. Thank you to everyone who came together to get this done for Oregon.

Democrats were far nicer to the Republicans than they deserved.

The entire eastern half of this state is 100% Trumper. It's currently Congressional District 2 and unfortunately my little blue city is in that district.

That would take some serious pretzel shaped maps to bring that about.

But I agree that the Dems tried to be nicer. They gave the Repubs an even seat at the table. The Repubs blew it up by refusing to work reasonably (I know, I know...). So the Democrats just went ahead and drew the maps themselves.

I would be happy to see one more blue seat come out of my state.

But it's sparsely populated. Carving that large tract of land into four, five or six parts attached to more liberal environs west of the Cascades would make it 6-0. Look at Pennsylvania: Even though Democrats have a majority of registrations (about 600,000 more registered Democrats than Republicans), their congressional delegation is split 9-9. That didn't happen by accident.

My district looks the same. I am in Medford I was hoping we would be moved, we have such a large district it would be the same for me to drive to Bay Area where my congressman a Trumper lives near border of Idaho.
