1. We have to let Afghanistan decide for itself what form of government they will tolerate.

We can't impose our system onto theirs. Their form or government has to evolve organically from their own culture.

When they get tired of the brutish, anti-woman, medieval Taliban, they will rise up and throw them off.

The Taliban can govern only with the consent, or at least acquiescence, of the governed. When a sufficient number Afghans have had enough of Taliban rule, the Taliban will be overthrown.

The Afghans have defeated the UK, the USSR and the USA. If there was a revolt, the CIA and FSB would flood the country with weapons. A slim majority of Afghans should have no difficulty dealing with the Taliban.

...then the women just push the veil slightly away from their face and eat/drink behind it, whilst still covering their face.

Saw it in Saudi many times, here, occasionally, in Qatar too.
