Changes at the Post Office to begin Oct. 1st.

New USPS price hikes and delays begin in October: What to know today
The US Postal Service has been plagued with sluggish service and late delivery. So why is it planning to slow down some first-class mail next month?

Do you drop a bill payment in the mailbox and wonder if it will arrive late or on time? Do you wonder why it seems to take the US Postal service so long to deliver a letter or package? Sending mail across your state or even the country feels like a game of chance with the USPS. Will my mail get there this week -- or next week? During the first quarter of this year, around 20% of first-class mail across the US was delivered late. And now snail mail is about to get slower for some of the 160 million residences and businesses that rely on the Postal Service.

Starting Oct. 1, the USPS will implement new service standards for its first-class mail and packages, lengthening delivery time for about 30% of its volume. That means some letters, parcels and magazine subscriptions traveling longer distances could take up to five days to arrive, instead of two or three days. The changes are part of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy's 10-year Delivering for America plan to overhaul the agency and try to tackle its massive debt. The plan, which has generated controversy, would also reduce post office hours, raise postage prices for customers and kick in even more postage hikes during the holiday season.

Why is this JA still there? I would have thought Biden would have replaced him b now!

I wonder how many times this has to be said before people stop insisting that Biden do something he has no power to do.

I believe Biden has to follow a process to increase or replace the Board, who'd get rid of DeJoy, but that is a process in itself as well.

There are more details to how the USPS board is set up & replaced, however.

The USPS Debt is *entirely* caused by GOP demands they fund their pension obligations for 75 years, up front. The GOP plan is to run up their debt, then tear them down for too much debt.

Vulture Government.

so that people use private delivery cos. more often, ones that charge beaucoup instead of reasonable 'govt.' rates. Same way that public schools are being drained and degraded in favor of for profit charter schools.

The US Postal Service was sabotaged under Bush II by being made to set aside retirement money for future workers not even born yet. Then they turned around and said, 'the service isn't making any money'.. All to break it down for privatization.

I'll support and use the Postal Service until it, or I am on the last legs!

I love the Postal Service and will continue using it till it or I am on the last legs!
