(10,044 posts)crickets from them all on USPS and DeJoy. That, to me, is totally irresponsible as a government body that oversees the agency.

(18,486 posts)that didn't come out in the Senate hearing held in August 2020?

(10,044 posts)Some kind of investigation should be done and yes he should be hauled before them to take questions.

(10,044 posts)in competition with USPS and the bonds he has purchased in that company and many other shady things he has done this year, while he has committed to more slow downs and higher prices. It is a shit show that nobody seems to be interested in. At least the people's representatives should show some interest.

(18,486 posts)Did you hear all of the questions and answers? Did you read the follow up questions the Committee sent him?
You complained that DeJoy hadn't been "hauled before them [Congress] to take questions," so you seem not to have known that he was indeed "hauled before Congress" this year and you also might not know what took place during the hearing. You also may not know what else has Congress has done in terms of oversight of the USPS, since hearings are only a small part of the oversight process.
In fact, Chairwoman Maloney and the House Oversight Committee have been doing quite a bit of oversight regarding the USPS. You should check out the Committee website for information. https://oversight.house.gov/investigations/postal-service
You may not think Congress is doing enough, but it's not accurate to say they haven't shown any interest.

(10,044 posts)I watch most of the hearings both in the house and in the senate.

(18,486 posts)you left the impression that you didn't know he had been brought in to answer questions just a few months ago or that the Oversight Committee has been doing quite a bit of oversight.

(15,568 posts)Two board members terms expire at the end of the year- one Democrat and one Republican. The Democrat member has stood by DeJoy for reasons unknown.
Biden could fill the Democratic vacancy, and leave the Republican seat open. The board will then have a Democratic majority and can remove DeJoy.

(13,565 posts)We do know that Louis DeJoy invested $300,000 in the investment house of Ron Bloom, the Dem who was appointed by Trump and is evidently Trump's stooge.
Alas, we also hear talk that Bloom's HOLDOVER year, which expires in December, is something he wants repeated -- another HOLDOVER year. I do not know who has the authority to grant that to him. He'd better not get it.

(15,568 posts)I had heard reports about the $300k, but it didnt name names.
I dont think Bloom can stay at his own discretion.

(13,565 posts)Biden cannot fire DeJoy.
Board chairman Ron Bloom, the Dem who was appointed by Trump to fill out someone's term and then who was given a year of "HOLDOVER" could fire DeJoy.
BUT... .
Louis DeJoy paid $300,000 into Bloom's investment firm, and they are all fat cat white guys in a clubby club.
BUT...
Bloom's HOLDOVER term expires in December and he will be gone. He's been a Trump stooge, too.
BUT....
We hear that Bloom wants another HOLDOVER year -- he must not be granted that wish.
And so you see it's a complicated matter.
My other beef: The whole board is made up of Fat Cat white men. Where is the diversity that might reflect the diverse postal employees???? Time to clean house, and put some PoC and women on the board of governors.
