Notable shifts in highly-educated Orange County cities in Governor races (2014 -> 2018 -> 2021):

Laguna Hills: R+24 -> R+8 -> R+2
Mission Viejo: R+25 -> R+13 -> R+5
Irvine: D+3 -> D+23 -> D+27

Looks like Democratic gains in highly-educated suburbs may be persisting post-Trump.

I’ve lived here for 65+ years and have been a duck out of water politically until the last decade or so. I’ve been a wild-eyed liberal lefty since around 1965 (civil rights, anti-Vietnam War, women’s liberation, etc.), living in the land of the John Birch Society.

Local government is still largely Republican, but that too is slowly changing.
