If the government doesn't raise the borrowing limit by oct 18

It’s supposedly possible that SS payments will be delayed. That’s obviously a worst case scenario but with the current situation in the legislative branch it’s not beyond possibility. I’d think all the politicians will do their best to keep SS payments going, but who knows, the rethugs might think they can convince people that it’s not their fault; The the Democrats are responsible. Since so many people are willing to believe outright lies, and the rethug party commited to playing games to make Biden look bad you just don’t know. My SS is supposed to come in on Oct 20. I’d be ok if it got delayed for awhile but if their games go on too long things could get dicey in a month or two. If the Rs cause the US to default I hope the Ds are setting up to blame them and not allow their games to hang responsibility on the Dems.

screw all this "my good friend from across the aisle" horseshit. Call it what it is, loud and often.

And cultivate a taste for blood.

However, I appreciate that many will not be so and Republican intransigence will be to blame if this comes to pass. I hope the Democratic messaging is clear, concise and on every network multiple times per day.

I thought I read recently that there was enough Social Security funds to last until 2033. Not sure how Social Security would be impacted if they don't raise the debt ceiling (I'm convinced it will be raised at the last minute). Can you imagine if Social Security payments stop? What a disaster - just don't see it happening.
