General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsOur news on employee resignations due to vaccine
mandates is really skewed.
The headline was that dozens of Truman Medical were leaving because of the requirement to get vaccinated.
39 people resigned.
Truman Medical has 5,000 employees.

(92,136 posts)employees were refusing the vaccine, when in reality it was less than 1%

(19,038 posts)Large corporation, they take a little time to put policy in place. We have 300,000 employees. Our site leader spoke yesterday on the subject and they will be enforcing a vaccine mandate, but they're still working on the details and the staff is all working from home anyways right now.
Biden gave them a reason and cover though, and they're going to take advantage of it. I know several people who will quit over it, but I suspect the job prospects for them will not be as bright as they think unless they're vaccinated.
And remember, right now 76% of US adults are vaccinated with at least 1 shot, so we're really only talking about less than 1 in 4 people that are causing all the trouble. Watching the news, you'd think it was 50-50.

(58,785 posts)like a lot of Q types and other nutter and antisocial types. Makes sense that not all trumpists are so self destructive that they'd refuse to get themselves vaccinated.

(20,629 posts)guy that chose to retire rather than get vaccinated.
"The Department has been notified by our HR office of one Trooper who has definitively stated he will retire because of the vaccine mandate, spokesman David Procopio said in an email to the Globe.
It is our understanding that other Troopers have indicated they may possibly resign or retire for that reason, but as of [Monday evening] we are aware of only the one.

Their headline correction -
And their mea culpa at the bottom of their updated article -

(3,166 posts)I've seen several right wingers post something about Covid like "Why don't they report on the number of people who recovered" or something like that, to which my response is always "It's not news if it's ordinary. You'll never see a headline about the thousands of planes that take off and land safely every day. But you sure as hell will see a story about one that crashes."

(748 posts)... I feel like it has to be an exact multiple of 12 to be "dozens".

(10,154 posts)His 3 kids don't even have their basic vaccinations and his wife supports him in this stupidity. They go around as if there is no pandemic. A couple of them got sick but the 5 of them are so young they recover quickly and go on.
He's the full support of all of them and he said he would quit if they force him to get vaccinated. I seriously doubt it.

In any case, congratulations (albeit premature) on getting him at least vaccinated.

(14,570 posts)job. For myself, no matter how anti-vax and how pro-ivermectin I was, I would think long and hard about leaving a JOB because I didn't want to get a little shot. And I wouldn't leave. I'd get the shot.
Plus, from the standpoint of employers fearing litigation, a vaccine mandate is a great idea, which most support.

Skewed reporting at its best. Or worst, as the case may be.

In July it was 99.5.
But you can't show them articles stating that because These are all fake news.

(2,809 posts)There are an entire battery of vaccinations and/or immunity titers required for any caregiver position. It makes this strictly a political protest from the non-compliant.
The few that have their heels dug in about this manage to bring down the integrity of selfless caregivers everywhere.
I won't miss those who are insisting on their tantrum, not one bit.

(21,745 posts)Every workplace has some bunghole employees that stir it up over every little thing.
My guess is the ant-vaxxers belong to that group.
In my experience, removing those employees is a win for management and a win for the folks who have to work alongside them.
I doubt they will be missed.
