Nearly 600 United Airlines employees face termination for defying vaccine mandate

From the article:

The carrier said it would start on Tuesday the process of firing 593 employees who decided not to get vaccinated.

"This was an incredibly difficult decision but keeping our team safe has always been our first priority," Chief Executive Scott Kirby and President Brett Hart told employees in a memo.

--snip--

The company dismissed the notion that the vaccine requirement was deterring applicants for jobs at the air carrier.

United received 700 applications for about 400 job postings last month at a Denver career fair. Similarly, it has received more than 20,000 applications for about 2,000 open positions for flight attendants, the spokesperson said.

And that is how all companies should be doing it. This nonsense has gone on long enough and the stupid have been allowed to kill themselves and other at will for long enough. The small number of loons need to be kept out of normal society. I hate to be harsh but... Let them die alone.

As a United Millage Plus member who has been building up my points A LOT since the pandemic and
is now looking forward to being able to travel again (we miss Europe) probably not until spring of 2022, good. If you're not smart enough to get the vaccination, then I don't want you working a flight I'm on. Handling trays, glasses, talking to customers in general. No thanks.

Nearly 67,000 United employees have been vaccinated. Etc. etc. etc. blah. Blah. Blah. Only 597 employees chose not to be vaccinated and their employment has been terminated. ( that last sentence deserved to be in the last paragraph. )

It is excellent and newsworthy in and of itself that so many are vaccinated... It is good and encouraging news. But it is also well past time to let the suicidal know they are no longer going to be allowed to take fellow workers/customers with them. The news that they do not have that right is equally important as too many are giving some weird type of 'other side of the argument' validity to the stance.
