LeBron James on Tuesday said he received the COVID-19 vaccine despite his initial skepticism. The Los Angeles Lakers star spoke with reporters on the Lakers' annual media day for the upcoming season, saying he and his family got the vaccine after he did his own research.
"I think everyone has they own choice to do what they feel is right for themselves and their family and things of that nature," he said. "I know that I was very (skeptical) about it all but after doing my research. I felt like it was best suited for not only me but for my family and my friends."
When asked if he felt the need to promote the vaccine, James said he only felt comfortable speaking about his and his family's choices.
"We're talking about individuals' bodies. We're not talking about something that's, you know, political or racism or police brutality," James said. "So I don't feel like, for me personally, I should get involved in what other people should do with their bodies and their livelihoods."

I don't get too involved in a political question that neither you nor I or even James has any stroke in, past his opinion. Even if I disagreed with him (and I only half agree of what he was opining), it's a pretty limp reason to condemn him against who he really is.

(13,574 posts)would be a big help. Saying they are vaccinated and why they made that decision isn't telling anhone else what to do.
I know damn good and wel both of my local state reps here in Dumbfuckistan (Idaho) are vaccinated. Do they even say anything one way or the other? Nope. That's a big tell. If they were full on FG cult COVIDiots, they'd be mimicking Tucker Carlson, but they're not.
I went to school with both of them. They aren't dumbshits. The one, Lori McCann, was appointed to fill Aaron Von Ehlinger's seat. The guy just arrested for rape in Georgia. You can rest assured her multimillionaire rancher husband is vaccinated too. Those two are just afraid to poutrage the FG followers. Keeping those seats is more important then their constituents lives.

Or 60 years ago. . . Hey, I guess that measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine sounds pretty good, even though I'm not entirely sure what rubella is. I think I'll give it to my kids - still not sure yet. But it's a personal choice.
Or the shingles vaccine today. Yeah, sure, I had chicken pox. And that shingles thing sounds pretty bad, but I don't know anyone who's ever had shingles, so, since it's a personal choice, I'll give it a miss. (According to the CDC, 1 in 3 people in the US will get shingles in their lifetime. But, sure, freedom.)
You know, about the flu. I mean, how likely is it that I'll die from the flu. Oh, 60,000 died in the 2018-2019 flu season? Well, still, what are the odds. So, freedom.
We have become a suicide cult with a hefty side of collateral deaths.
