Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI found a cute sticker I liked on Etsy and added it to my cart... THEN...
... I took a quick glance at that seller's other items. They were 99% ALL ANTI-BIDEN and PRO-TRUMP crap. Vile and offensive. Tacky and tasteless.
I looked further to see if he was a "both sides" political swag seller. Nope. Just pro-Trump.
I immediately removed the item I'd put in my cart. Yuk! I'm not buying from THAT seller.
How about you: Do you avoid pro-Trump businesses? Or pro "Jesus-Fish" businesses?

The trumpanzee stuff goes without saying that I will avoid them.
Or right wing anything.
Those cult prone types were just as loco about bush2 and raygun.
They never seemed to go as nuts for bush the elder for some reason.

(36,770 posts)In my volunteer work, one of our patients came into the office to complain about another volunteer. He prattled on and on and every third statement was 'I'm a Christian'. The more he said it, the less I believed it. His neighbor told us that he got fired from a government job for theft.

(42,279 posts)As people violating the rule against taking the Lord's name in vain. I have felt that way since seeing a large "Jesus is Lord" sign at a pawn shop in OKC in the 1980's.
Profiting from religious claims seems...tacky at best.

(15,800 posts)I confess that I vandalized a trumpster's effort. At the gas station someone had placed a sticker on the gas pump right next to the window that shows the customer's purchase price; the sticker was a picture of Biden pointing to that price window with the caption "That's all mine." Happily, the sticker's adhesive was poor and I was able to remove the thing with one hand while pumping gas with the other. Such a rebel I am!

You have nothing to confess. You were doing a public service and should be pleased with yourself.
I just hope you washed your hands after.

(509 posts)a fair number of channels on YouTube. While the material presented in these channels is primarily non-political (like music and mechanical repair and maintenance), some posters have been unable to resist the temptation to insert political comments, usually of a Pro-TFG, anti Liberal . It has been my personal policy to immediately un-subscribe and never return to that channel again.
I have lost some interesting and informative channels, but I will not support anyone who seeks to undermine and overthrow this country. Period. End. Full stop.

(21,745 posts)The thing was about a half hour long going into the casting and writing of the series, pretty interesting, and then went off on a tangent about how government agents had come in and forced the Clampett family off their ancestral land and took their oil.
This makes no sense. The point of the show is that the Clampetts were rich from selling their oil.
Just for the record, in the pilot episode, Mr. Brewster from an oil company paid them millions for their land, gave them royalties for the oil that was pumped from the swamp, and helped them move to California. The government had nothing to do with it.

(17,911 posts)Religion, or lack there of, is a personal issue and should never be used to drum up biz. Doing so shows a distinct lack of character, so I trust them about as far as I can hurl their asses.
Being pro Trump shows an even greater lack of character and decency. So, I made a list of local pro Trumpers in 2016 and 2020. Yes, even in VT we have a few, but not a single, solitary one of them will get a dime of my business. And I'm not alone here. Actions have consequences.

(7,341 posts)I will be a rotting corpse in the ground before I'll ever set foot in a Chick-fil-A-holes or Hobby Lobby. I don't care if a business is a bit conservative leaning behind the scenes, but when they wear it on their sleeve like that, it is just tacky and tasteless. Especially the Jesus freaks using their alleged sacred beliefs as cheap publicity to hawk their wares. Same with ones always flying the thin blue police flag or Gadsden flag.

(12,646 posts)Very few Jesus Fish businesses are professional towards the general public; they tend to treat their businesses as personal ATMs, make deals for their buddies and screw everyone else at will. Same with pro-T**** businesses.
When I do business with anyone, I expect them to be professional and non-partisan, even if I am their friend or a regular.

(3,334 posts)Many of our churches have people who belong to groups that repair homes for people who can not afford to have it done. There is enough food donated that no one in our town needs to go hungry in fact there is sometimes so much food that they let anyone come and take food. When our daughter was dying at our house we were never alone, besides family, there were always neighbors 24 hours a day in our house for two weeks and another week after she died.

(110 posts)And Christians who are only using it for worldly gain. They will be judged not by us here on earth. People of faith walk as servants to their families and communities around them. They are the missionaries serving outside their community. There are good people doing great things. Im so sorry for your loss and you had that support in your time of need.

(10,885 posts)who tends to wear his crucifix outside his blue shirt collar. If I'm in a location to do business with someone, I don't wish to be needlessly inflicted with their beliefs as a prerequisite.
There used to be a ski shop nearby that had some pretty good pricing and the owner was great at prepping equipment. His business was ruined by his religi-nut wife who kept a bible on the store's benchseat and would proceed to quote from it regularly. It's hard to run away with one ski boot on and one off so customers were trapped...until they stopped coming into the store. Buh-bye business!

(6,911 posts)Needs to be a separate OP. It detracts from your legitimate outrage by including an unrelated pet peeve.
Of course I avoid Trumpist businesses, let them survive on the crumbs from the deplorables. They wont get a penny of my money.
However, I also give money away to a Christian church in the area that sends 15 people every Wednesday night to feed the homeless at an urban homeless shelter. I cant go, but I support the mission of feeding the homeless with my earnings
Its complicated. 😂🤣

That was it for me. I will never buy from them again!
So you did the right thing not buying from them because your money could go to the TFG indirectly. So no way frigign way.

I recently have a suspicious experience this whole anger syndrome Trumpers have become so militant with became hazardous:
https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=15896238
Since then, I received a reply from Jiffy Lube corporate that indicated I should be hearing from the local franchisee on the matter within 3 business days. That would be today..
But nothing more since. I get the distinct impression the owners may be Trumpers who couldn't care less.
Although it was all circumstantial, connect-the-dots assumption, I sure don't know how else this incident could have happened.
I'm completing vacation time here, working on getting my hypertension under control. I won't pursue this further.
But just FYI, DU'ers-- Jiffy Lube Canon City, Colorado is forever off my list.
