There may be problems with having the top two people have so much wealth, but inherent "inequality" isn't one of them. Get rid of the conditional; make it so those millions Bernie is talking about can have the basics to live (and more, to thrive). If the top two Americans are still the top two and still have billions after that, I don't consider it a concern, as long as they don't use their money to cause harm.
