...how many noms have been approved. I heard recently that the GOP was able to stifle many of these noms, but not exactly how many.

blue states because they're faster and easier to get confirmed, allowing them to practically set a record so far. Next things slow down considerably they start negotiating and fighting to get their nominees in red states confirmed.
