Inflation Is The 1% Taking More And More And More Just Because They Can

More than anything else.

They need "higher margins" and "returns" and since we are a country of monopolies, they get it.

When was the last time an "industrialist" went to prison for price fixing?

Thought so.

Sometimes never comes down. I wish President Biden would kill the tariffs and pressure firms to cut prices $ for $. Fighting an unneeded 25% China import duty is not helping. It’s a tax for fuck sake’s Republicans!

If I have two things to sell and three people want them then guess what? The two people willing to pay me the most get the things.

There is nothing wrong with that in general.

It becomes an issue when the things in question are essential items.

WE need to prevent trusts and monopolies. And where monopolies make sense, they should be public services, not private businesses.

It's RIDICULOUS that monopolistic essential utilities can be be run as for-profit businesses, even when subject to rate controls.

It's ok when minimum wage and collective bargaining rules are set by government, but any effort to rein in corporate profiteering is "communism."
