Caitlyn Jenner told the hosts of The View on Tuesday that shed run for office again after her failed bid to unseat California Gov. Gavin Newsom. The recall election failed, and Jenner, who ran as a Republican, did not make it to the top 10 replacement candidates, according to ABC News. Jenner received about 1.1 percent of the vote during the recall election in California. Jenner wrote that elected Republican officials had supported her privately but wouldnt be seen with her.
Even though it didn't work out the way we wanted it to in the end, it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, Jenner told the hosts. Would I run again? Yes. I want to stay involved, she said. But there's other things that I would like to do, and that is one is try to get the Republican Party to be more inclusive.
She said that people in the U.S. often boxed people into certain categories, but people need to come together. And the Republican party needs to change, and to be honest with you, I am the poster child for change, Jenner said.
When The View announced Jenner as a guest, people spoke out against the decision on social media.

(53,776 posts)She's a dilettante pol with deep, deep pockets from that show "Keeping up with the Kardasians" and can afford to "keep being involved", if one can call 1.1 percent of the vote involved, in a party than obviously doesn't welcome her.
She's apparently loves the spotlight but is wasting her time.

(11,736 posts)She is different but she is not the "poster child for change". She is the same, rich, out of touch White person, that conservatives have always been. She is transgender, but does absolutely nothing to advocate for acceptance of transgender people. She bitches about her taxes, even as she pays less a percentage of her wealth than the average working person does. Republicans still support those policies. The thing is that Republican policies are so toxic to everyone else, that they have had to go all in with the racists and religious Christian fundamentalists because no one else benefits from their ideas.
How about first, get your head out of your ass Jenner. Then you can look into whether you want to remain in politics.

(65,010 posts)...getting annihilated in an election, perhaps.
The "change" would only be losing so badly that voter suppression, dirty tricks & cheating wouldn't help.
gratuitous
(82,849 posts)I mean, she got all the votes cast by the Kardashians; a couple of people who filled in the bubble and said, "Oh crap, I meant to fill in the bubble above that one," and a handful of monkey-wrenchers who thought it would be a hoot to vote for her.

(50,269 posts)the polar opposite of inclusive. They don't even want to include women who would like to keep control of their own bodies in the mix, much less a transgender woman.

(6,522 posts)Republicans would execute her if allowed. Just because Hollywood accepts her doesn't mean that conservative right wing Christians will. Get a grip, honey, and wake up to reality.

Um, that was something you might have said about the Republican Party in 1999. Today it's more like, I wish the Republican Party wouldn't be psychotic, suicidal, treasonous, fascists.
