In post presidential time his Carter Foundation has all but eliminated the
scourge of Guinea Worms from the world.

I voted for him twice, campaigned for him twice, and would happily do it again! A true Elder Statesman of the highest order!

Happy Birthday, Mr. President! I hope you're around to see #100!

However, he is far and away the finest ex-president of the United States.

Republicans like to make a big deal out of their generally bogus claims to be Christians. Carter, a man most of them despise, actually is one.

I might be (happily) wrong about that, but Mr. Carter, there has never been anyone better there. Honest, sincere and full of nothing but good will and good intentions.

A spectacularly happy birthday to you, sir!

He was unafraid to tell Americans what they needed to hear, not what they wanted to hear. He did so by calling Americans to our society's poisonous materialism in the erroneously tagged Malaise Speech.

How did Americans react? They vilified Carter and flocked to the shallow and selfish bromides offered by Reagan. They opted for death.
