Lawyers for former President Donald Trump are urging a federal judge in Florida to force Twitter to reinstate his account.
In a preliminary injunction against Twitter filed Friday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida, his lawyers argued in part that the social media platform has been suspending accounts arbitrarily.
The Taliban, for example, has been able to "tweet regularly about their military conquests and victories across Afghanistan" since early August, his lawyers wrote.
Twitter "exercises a degree of power and control over political discourse in this country that is immeasurable, historically unprecedented, and profoundly dangerous to open democratic debate," lawyers for Trump wrote.

Problem of it is most of TFG's Tweets were childish bullshit rather than political debate. Guess he needs something to do on those many nights he can't sleep.

(20,136 posts)and publishing whatever he wants. That's what the First Amendment allows. A private company is not required to be consistent or fair in who it allows to use its property. At least not under the Constitution. Congress could pass a law but even then, Twitter also has rights under the Constitution, because of corporate personhood.

(102,292 posts)his election lawyers. Yeah, right. A court is going to order a private business to reinstate your access to their service after you have repeatedly violated their well-published TOS. Let's see all that precedence that supports that case.

(65,076 posts)...legal gymnastics for them to do that.
I'm no lawyer, but I can't imagine what precedent exists to force a company to offer services to someone that broke their easily obtainable terms of service on multiple occasions.
My guess is that the headlines gotten for this judicial temper tantrum is as much the goal as is getting reinstated.

That's right, Donald, I said GROVEL with your tiny inadequate little hands.
