(102,291 posts)Frankly, as much as I'm concerned about these infrastructure bills and some means to raise the debt ceiling, I'm starting to become a wreck about voting rights.
I'd so like to focus on something in life besides politics and our attempts to restrain Trump and his ilk. But...

(2,343 posts)If I could waive a magic wand and restore my relations that have been strained or evaporated due to intolerance. In August a longtime Republican friend who I'd cut off two years ago reached out to me. After a two-hour heart-to-heart at Starbucks, we are good again; politics is just off limit us. He's always been such a good friend, I'm ok setting those boundaries. I can't do that for all my lost friends. But, I'm attempting to with a couple more.

(102,291 posts)years, including constant support during her husband's three-year hospice/end-of-life. We agreed not to talk politics (or religion) but her conservative traits came through over and over and over--including never apologizing for anything and being very self-absorbed/never asking about others and how they are doing (including myself, albeit I understood and fully accepted this for the past years due to stress and grief).
But, I'd finally had enough when she started a pattern of interrupting me whenever a mutual friend engaged me in a conversation--often serious discussion-- about my own issues. After weeks of essentially never getting a word out or her becoming visibly irritated if the subject matter was not to her liking, I've had it. At least for the time being. I'm just tapped out. It feels really shitty and I feel rather miserable out it, but...
