18 ex-NBA players charged and arrested in $4 million healthcare scam

Eighteen former NBA players have been charged with defrauding the league’s health and welfare benefit plan out of about $4 million, according to the Department of Justice.

All of those charged have been arrested, according to NBC News — there will be a press conference held by the DOJ and FBI on Thursday to give more details.

… snip …

Former NBA players charged were: Terrence Williams, Alan Anderson, Anthony Allen, Shannon Brown, William Bynum, Ronald Glen “Big Baby” Davis, Christopher Douglas-Roberts, Melvin Ely, Jamario Moon, Darius Miles, Milton Palacio, Ruben Patterson, Eddie Robinson, Gregory Smith, Sebastian Telfair, Charles Watson Jr., Antoine Wright, and Anthony Wroten, according to NBC.

The 18 players were among 19 people charged in the indictment. It said that the scheme was carried out from at least 2017 to 2020, when the plan received false claims totaling about $3.9 million. Of that, the defendants received about $2.5 million in fraudulent proceeds.

WHAT IS THE AVERAGE NBA SALARY?

The NBA leads in average player salaries by a wide margin, as evidenced by Statista’s list that also includes average 2019-2020 player salaries for the MLB, NFL, NHL and the MLS: Average NBA salary: $8.32 million.

Simply so, What is the average NFL salary?

The median salary for all NFL players is $860,000. Not a shabby income, but still far below the $2 million that gets more publicity. For perspective, a starting one-year rookie has a minimum income of $435,000. Most of the attention from the press is on the stunningly high incomes of top quarterbacks.

Similarly, Who is the lowest paid NBA player 2020?

Who is the lowest paid NBA player in the 2020-21 Season? The lowest paid players in the 2020-21 NBA Season are Henry Ellenson of the Toronto Raptors and Chimezie Metu of the Sacramento Kings. The two lowest paid players in the NBA are guaranteed to earn the same as the average persons take home in the USA this year.

Who has the highest salary in the NBA 2020?

Top 30 NBA salaries for 2020-2021 season*

Stephen Curry: $43,006,362.
Chris Paul / Russell Westbrook: $41,358,814.
James Harden / John Wall: $41,254,920.
LeBron James: $39,219,566.
Kevin Durant: $39,058,950.
Blake Griffin: $36,810,996.
Paul George: $35,450,412.
Klay Thompson: $35,361,360.

Per the CBA, the minimum salary for a full year rostered player (excluding first year, non-drafted players) is around $900,000. Those excluded players can be as low as $480k.
Not sure how they came up with "...the same as the average persons (sic) take home..."

I'm confident that former Governor now Senator Rick Scott will have some informed commentary on these charges.
