I know Ive already said this many times, but they are finally saying it outside their online chat groups. It was never really about CRT or masks. It was always about wanting to make sure kids get home schooled with a good, christian, patriotic education. Just like Madison.

(102,278 posts)candidates for your local school board. Never before has it been more important to do so. It took some effort and about 90 minutes for me to do so, but I WAS able to determine who among the candidates were wacko anti-vaxx, anti-mask, anti-science and fighting against unbiased education. We owe it to these kids (and I say this as someone who has none, but I damned well care).

(182,806 posts)Unless one of the parents stay home to teach the kids.
Tell us how that would work out for them.

They have a very friendly Supreme Court.

(1,406 posts)Mean nothing to these people and this court. It has already shown it massive tilt. Roe v Wade just meant absolutely nothing to them.
Citizen United was made out of nothing. Laws mean nothing to these people. They want what they want and the rest be dammed.
They will sue under Equal Protection, 1st Amendment, Unlawful Taxation. Or they will dream up a hundred different suits until they find the right judge to send it on it's way to the Supreme Court who will pretzel logic a finding for them.

(58,785 posts)and with it the taxation required to fund it. It's not in its early stages. Many behind the voucher programs and private schools are using them as a means of weakening support for universal education until it can be done away with. People should educate their own children, why should I have to?
The right's move to the far right, their actions and rants on education, their movement toward a hierarchical class-based society, and belief that education is wasted on some, the techno-elimination of many jobs, fewer and no children, the economic disincentives to higher education, fascistic and hard-core libertarian ideology all pull that direction.
Scott Walker and company's plan for state colleges in WI was to change their mission to prepare workers to serve the needs of WI business. That goal is not unusual.
And it fits the tenor of the times. Many RWers today are strongly opposed to modern education, having been trained to regard it as liberal brainwashing, and around here as hunting ground for Satan. By far most who enroll in college do it, above all, to be able to get a decent paying job and a middle class lapel pin. And, conversely, increasingly work requiring a college degree does not necessarily pay better than skilled work that does not.
