A DU post today on religious leaders preaching against masks or vaccines fits, doesn't it?

Fits with a seemingly increasing acceptance to authoritarian rule.

What do religious leaders need? People in the seats, people tuning in - and why? Money. The whole concept of "it's God's will" reduces the need for personal responsibility, science, reasoning and logic. So of course lots of religions will be on the other side of science, vaccines, masks, education - hence, Democrats.

This is one big piece of the puzzle. The other big piece is, of course, fear of TFG, a bowing down to the false god, the golden profit. If we are for it, they are against it. Own the libs.

Reason, science, independent thought are under attack from so many directions right now - but as always, the old adage of "follow the money" seems to be an intersection point for all of them.

We are such a species of hypocrites and deflection of accepting personal responsibility. Never have I been happier to be a Democrat and a liberal Never has DU been more important to me as a place to find smart, empathetic people sharing their views and bringing news here to share. WE - Democrats - are the firewall that must keep our country a democracy. No one else seems to care.

I left the church decades ago because of how apparent that was.

find I have trouble translating to typed text. My mind ends up going in too many directions at once!

Big difference between we Democrats and republicans -we do nuance and complexity, they can only do black and white thinking - all or nothing, no nuance, no reasoning - their way or the highway.

(according to studies) the the religious and evangelicals in particular are shrinking each year. I don’t have a problem with spiritual people but some organized churches seem to push greed and authoritarianism over love and acceptance.

My wife and I stopped going to our church when the minister said that there are sample ballots to foolow for the upcoming election (Bush v. Kerry). All Repugs were checked.
