Bernie Sanders has been calling on Joe Manchin to support President Joe Bidens full agenda for weeks. On Friday night, Manchin signaled hes had enough of that.
In response to an op-ed from Sanders (I-Vt.) published in Manchins hometown paper on Friday night, Manchin snapped back: This isnt the first time an out-of-stater has tried to tell West Virginians what is best for them despite having no relationship to our state.
Congress should proceed with caution on any additional spending and I will not vote for a reckless expansion of government programs. No op-ed from a self-declared Independent socialist is going to change that, Manchin said in a statement on Friday evening shortly after the op-ed published. Sanders caucuses with Democrats but is still technically an independent.

The content is irrelevant. Manchin is a Democrat, Sanders is not. Never has been - except for manipulating the Vermont Senatorial primaries.
Manchin has been winning elections since 2010, in the State of West Virginia which has been a reliable red state.
Sanders has a history of campaigning against Democratic candidates, including seeking someone to primary challenge Obama in 2012. While he has never used the term "carnage," his 2016 campaign had such a similar message to Trump's that, as reported, 12% of his supporters voted for Trump. Many more stayed home.
Joe Biden won the nomination based on substance and on form. In contrast to the opinion on these pages, he did not support a left leaning agenda, but came as a centrist. And while Sanders and Warren created a bleak image of this country, Biden's signature conclusion has been, still is a positive hopeful one: This is America! There is nothing wrong with America that we cannot fix.
I have no idea the shape of the Democratic Party after the 2024 elections, but I am afraid that the leaders will regret their decision to let Independent Sanders participate in the Democratic Presidential primaries.
If you want to alert for "bashing Democrats" remember, Sanders is not a Democrat.
