I kinda doubt Ocasio-Cortez is worried about them, no matter how often she votes with the rest of the Democratic house members. And certainly not this "challenger." Only residents of that district have a say.

though who gets what proportion of their vote each GE values. The election I remember data for this small demographic that claimed to support a Democrat in the primary at least showed that in the GE @12% voted for tRump, 2% didn't vote, and the rest voted third party. Researchers went back to the same people the next time, and they were again eager to promise they wouldn't vote for any of the Democratic candidates if their candidate didn't win the primary, don't know how they voted in the end. It's been a while, but you can find reports if you look. And with the 2022 midterms coming up, at some point someone will interview some of the more public figures or groups and quote their intentions. Not big news, but with margins as narrow as they are it'll show up in political reporting.
Should point out that the candidates they decide to award their passionate support to didn't create this small demo within the hostile left. They've always been around, with the usual age replacement over the decades. Their type voted Nader to save America from Gore, for instance. Each election they declare the same values and goals as liberals do (but far better!) Some hope to be able to vote Democratic if we produce a candidate who isn't a corporatist warmonger practically as bad as the Republicans, but apparently we never do.
Those people, bless their noisy little hearts. Underlining that under half were so disappointed that they voted tRump/GOP, but that is what we're talking about and some did identify, or had, as Democrats.
A lot of the far-left noise was a call for Democrats to abandon the party or at least refuse to vote, so look for that again, for 2024 anyway. Midterm elections don't offer the same chance to hope for a great leader and be disappointed, of course, but you can be sure they, and the hostiles with big pockets who promote them, will be out noisy in force for 2024. It's going to be an existential election and a chance for spoilers, and those who use them, to make them felt again.

(2,284 posts)Democratic Underground is an online community for friendly, politically liberal people who understand the importance of working together to elect more Democrats and fewer Republicans to all levels of American government. Constructive criticism of Democratic politicians, party officials, and public figures is welcome and encouraged, but we expect our members to follow our forum rules and participate in a manner which promotes a positive atmosphere.
Members are not expected to hold across-the-board progressive opinions on every single issue, but we do expect members to be generally progressive and to support Democrats at election time -- remember that and respect it when posting. Harsh, divisive, partisan attacks against Democrats or progressive values (from the right or the left) are not welcome here.
But above all, we want our members to be friendly to each other. The vast majority of our members are thoughtful people who care about issues, and most of us can handle a different opinion if it is shared in a respectful way. Geez, AOC had just taken office when she was invited to SXSW in Austin. She was a smash there. And this is a really big gathering and she just shined. People from all over the world go there.
A niece of mine lives in Austin and told me one year she saw the police block off an intersection for a helicopter to land. The passenger, by his dress and the cops allowing him that privilege, looked to be Saudi royalty.

(55,831 posts)The Freedom Toast is a project that grew out of the Renaissance Weekend gatherings in Charleston, South Carolina. The name stems from when the Republicans tried (and missed) to insult the French for not participating in the 2003 Iraq invasion. They changed French Fries on the House menu to Freedom Fries, and French Toast to Freedom Toast. The idiots never realized that French Toast was named for Joseph French, who supposedly invented it. They also never knew that "French Fries" are a Belgian specialty, and that the French had been (somewhat jokingly) after us for years to stop using their name for something Belgian. So, finally one group of American idiots finally decides to accommodate their wishes, and thinks it's an insult.
As for gathering together and playing--I wish we could manage that! With the musical director in Atlanta and me in Germany, we rarely get the chance to all be in the studio at the same time. Usually we jumble studio time, send tracks back and forth, and use internet technology to produce our result. I do all the lyrics, and occasionally get to participate with a guitar track or two, although "Hatch," an Alabama Republican with a sense of humor, is our lead guitarist. Our vocalists are loose group of "when we have time" people who include our studio engineer (he did Washington, DC), but also a brilliant George Benson soundalike (In DC), a Sinatra soundalike (Strangers on the Right), our Parody Project partner, Don Caron* in the Pacific Northwest, who did Jimmy Buffet (Wasting Away in Mar-a-Lagoville), as well as just about all Paul Simon melodies) and our incredibly brilliant Deborah Bowman, who sounds EXACTLY like Petula Clark (Dumb Down), Tammy Wynette (Stand With Your Man, Cher (The Tweet Goes On), Dolly Parton (Marge Greene), and Ethel Merman (NO Business), and that's not even all of our videos she has sung on. She, too, is from Alabama. One of our guys, Sam Hagan, is already out of the picture (cancer), and we miss him greatly. A gospel singer by training, he sang the stunning lead on "Stoop Low, You Media" on our CD when we first got The Freedom Toast together in Atlanta. We put out "Sing Along With The Democrats" and "Sing Along With The Republicans." Both CDs trashed the Republicans, of course.
We would LOVE to actually perform some time, but it's impossible to get us all in a studio at one time, much less have a schedule permitting the preparation that would go into a live show. In another lifetime, maybe.
As for information on us, I guess I'd be as good a source of that as any............
Most of our best material can be heard here: https://www.jango.com/music/The+Freedom+Toast
*Don Caron has dozens of really great videos of his own as The Parody Project, by the way. You might want to check them out, too.

(151,425 posts)You know that the Justice Democrats are going to primary Hakeem Jeffries. That contest will be fun to watch in addition to a possible primary of AOC by Team Blue PAC and Hakeem Jeffries.
I have been following the Justice Democrats and its predecessor for a while including the "brand new congress" group and other groups created by Cenk, Kyle Kulinksi and their ilk. I am on the Justice Democrat email list and I have even listened once or twice to the Justice Democrat podcast which is amusingly called "Just Us" democrats. The Justice Democrats emails are fun to laugh at and I love the hatred this group shows to the Democratic Party, establishment Democrats and best of all "corporate democrats." The posts attacking the DCCC for raising money to elect real Democrats are really amusing.
I have been following number of posters on twitter who dislike the Justice Democrats. There are a large number posters on twitter who have issues with the concept of the Justice Democrat group wanting to take over the Democratic party and remake into their image. I am a regular democrat who does not want the Democratic Party to be taken over by the Justice Democrat group.

Other posters have issues with the concept that the Justice Democrats want to take over the Democratic Party

Again the above posts are consistent with the hatred of the Democratic Party that I see on the almost daily emails that I get from the Justice Democrats. Do you approve of the hatred of the DCCC, the mainstream Democratic Party, corporate Democrats, and establishment Democrats? I have worked inside the party for decades and I find these attacks distasteful
I am also getting daily emails from AOC that I find to be sad but amusing.
Again, this will be a fun primary to watch. Jeffries and company have a ton of material to use in such a primary. I will also enjoy seeing a Just Us Democrat try to primary Jeffries

We all resigned because we thought it was the right thing to do, not because it was the law, Trent told The Post.

Also, Cenk resigned from JD on December 22, 2017, and Kulinski resigned the next day.

The political action committee, called Team Blue, will fill a gap for members running for re-election who might not be able to get help from the official committees of the Democratic Party to fend off primary challenges.....
Some of those primary challengers enjoy well-funded support from outside groups. Justice Democrats and Courage to Change, left-wing groups that enjoy support from well-known members like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., have been unafraid to pump money into races to oust Democratic incumbents.
The PAC is being established by three rising stars in the House Democratic Caucus: Reps. Hakeem Jeffries of New York, Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey and Terri Sewell of Alabama.
"The House Democratic Caucus is the most diverse and vibrant legislative caucus in the history of the republic," Jeffries said in an interview. "This effort to protect our incredible members is an extension of my job as caucus chair: to ensure that members are successful as elected representatives and building campaigns to communicate with the people they represent.".
Again, this will be fun to watch

BTW, Team Blue Pac is mentioned in the Just Us emails that I find so amusing.
This is only part of the story. Not only will these corporate candidates spend their millions to defeat Odessa, Rana, and Kina. They will have establishment PACs like the Democratic Majority for Israel, Team Blue PAC, and others spending huge sums to smear Justice Democrats.
Team Blue PAC with Hakeem Jeffries, the 4th most powerful Democrat in the House. They formed Team Blue PAC specifically to protect corporate incumbents from progressive primary challengers
Gottheimer also recently started Team Blue PAC with Hakeem Jeffries, the 4th most powerful Democrat in the House. They formed Team Blue PAC specifically to protect corporate incumbents from progressive primary challengers. They even named two of our races as top priorities for their PAC. We can expect a slew of negative ads against AT LEAST two of our Justice Democrats-endorsed primary challengers next year.
