(14,837 posts)It was just an exercise - a thought game - to see how or if it could be done. I never imagined anyone would build one. I was given a project and it was only one project of many. Oh, and the issue of me being available during construction was just part of my job. I just answered questions.
Oh, and make the occasional call to try get it implemented. But hey, they were just words on paper.....

(82,849 posts)As the strategy his memo laid out was set in motion, and an angry, violent mob gathered that morning to storm the Capitol, how horrified was John Eastman? Was he running around, hair on fire, trying to stop this internal discussion from becoming reality? Or was he on the podium, addressing the mob and encouraging them to carry out the insurrection in accordance with his blueprint?
Now, months later, after his "preliminary" memo has failed and the folks who defended the Constitution and the country that day begin their reckoning, Eastman would like everyone to know that he never in a million years dreamed that things would come out the way they did.
Uh huh.

(25,270 posts)I think it's the same guy that called Georgia and asked them to find another 11,800 or so votes.
I believe that Eastman is now trying to cover for TFG by saying he doesn't remember who instructed him to write this document.
I got to think Tr**p - the guy that can't accept losing (who is actually a big loser) gave Eastman the task.
It's going to be interesting if Eastman is made the fall guy in this. How quick is Tr**p going to disavow even talking to Eastman about this?

(12,592 posts)Lawyers are creatures of habit, and one habit is to account for "billable hours." Lawyers live for billable hours, to wit:
A lawyer approached the Pearly Gates of Heaven.
Im only 45 years old!" he angrily snapped at the gatekeeper. "Why is it already my time to depart? Send me back to Earth right now or Ill sue you!
Based on the records of your billable hours, Mr. Lawyer, youre 98 years old, replied the gatekeeper.
Even if Eastman ultimately donated his time, his records would show what work was done, who the client was, what the fee was and how much of that fee was discounted or waived.
Relative to the 1/6 investigation, somewhere in Eastman's records is documentation of who he was working for when he drafted the infamous memo. Documents don't just appear out of thin air. There is a backstory, there is a written history, the are previous drafts, there is incontrovertible evidence that can be subpoenaed.

(17,019 posts)the net was cast far and wide to find ALL conspirators involved in Pres. Lincoln's murder. Remember Dr. Mudd, who was sentenced to life in prison, because he set Booth's broken leg. (It turned out that he met Booth once before the assassination, so the government took no chances. Arrested him, tried him and sentenced him.
We need this kind of vigorous pursuit of anyone who may have been involved in any of the meetings and subsequent violence. Repuations ruined? Sorry, that happened when they signed on to be traitor henchmen. Being investigated is just icing on the turd.
A bit of historical trivia -- one of the conspirators got cold feet when the plan escalated from kidnapping to murder, and instead of going after his target (Vice President Johnson) he went to the nearest bar and got plastered. Didn't save him from his appointment with the hangman, though....

(17,019 posts)I saw a story about Lincoln's assassination. I think at least one of the Cabinet Secretaries was also a target, but I need to refresh my memory.

(7,286 posts)could be, but totally spot on wrt "more than just a thought experiment".
All the other ass clowns we were already "acquainted" with salivating at the notion of "lock her up" lead by Mike Flynn, my thoughts on the planning had zeroed on Flynn and his military connections including his Brother and his son on the planning.
It never occurred to me that a Corporate Lizard cooked up the details.

If it walks like a Duck talks like a Duck and writes like one, you can be damn sure it's a Duck when you find his fingerprints on the document in question.
