52% in favor, 43% against. That is the latest WaPo polling about Maryland's marriage equality bill.

The bill has already passed the legislature and been signed by the governor. The opposition got enough signatures to put it on the ballot. The polling above shows where we stand today (actually, two days ago).

There was an influx of religious crazies into the state today, among them Tony Perkins, all blathering about how this threatens . . . . . something or other.

A nine point spread looks pretty good . . . . or does it?

If this passes, Maryland voters will be the first in the nation to pass such a bill by directly voting.

Here is a link to the WaPo: http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/polling/protection-question-marriage-question/2012/10/19/913cd81c-1918-11e2-ad4a-e5a958b60a1e_page.html

I get no overconfidence vibe here. If anything, the vibe is "serious as a heart attack" on all sides Stinky The Clown Oct 2012 #3

There is something of a Bradley Effect with gay marriage votes. If we go into the election with the polls looking like that our side will win, but we'll leak a few percentage points too.

It was "sure to go down" but it didn't. (Thanks to overconfidence and Mormon Money).

It means that you Marylanders will get to beat us out here in Washington state for the first state to approve same-sex marriage by popular vote.
