Heres how many weeks of paid leave a new mother receives in countries around the world:
Russia: 166 weeks
Canada: 76 weeks
Iran: 26 weeks
China: 16 weeks
Iraq: 14 weeks
Mexico: 12 weeks
North Korea: 11 weeks
America: 0 weeks

(10,052 posts)depending on a person's income for the first 52 weeks in Canada and about 37% of income for the remaining. When I had my son 40 years ago we had only 4 months paid leave but it was at 75% of salary.

(10,052 posts)mothers are nursing for longer periods of time. Many people wanted more time so they made it longer but a lower rate. Most people only take the first year. It guarantees your job will be there to come back to. Not always the same position, but one of same level of pay.

Are fathers given the same amount ?

(3,339 posts)Moscow does provide paid parental leave that can be used by one of a childs parents mother or father or the childs primary caregiver.
