CBS News latest example of Retrumplicans "fluffing"

So, I watched my local news to get info on some storms that were coming through, and against my better judgement, decided to watch the CBS National News.

To demonstrate how much "disarray" the Dems are in, Nora O'donnell decided to do a segment about the Virginia Governor race.

They pulled one poll...the ONLY poll...that shows the race as a "deadheat", and decided to talk to some voters.

Did they interview some Trumpkin voters...err...I mean Youngkin voters, and then interview some McAuliffe voters?

Fuck no! You see, McAuliffe voters don't matter, so they didn't bother to find one.

They found a Youngkin voter, and let them explain why they were voting for Youngkin, and an "undecided" to explain why they "might" vote for Youngkin.

I contacted CBS News to let them know what they already know.

Allowing a Youngkin voter several minutes to explain why they are voting for Youngkin, with NO McAuliffe voter being given the same opportunity IS NOT NEWS, it's a Youngkin campaign ad.

elected governors from the opposite party to the president's. The gubernatorial election is the year following the presidential election, and that's believed to have something to do with it.

A nearly tied race breaks that pattern, with McAuliffe doing signficantly better and Youngkin much worse. Don't suppose she at least mentioned that?

CBS News works to keep power in Republican/conservative hands. Also CNN, NYT, AP, etc, etc.

We spat on PBS Evening News, and Judy Woodruff, when we stopped watching what was once our daily program, so we don't know what they're doing these days. But the pattern you describe is a faint echo of what they were doing to sabotage Democrats during the presidential campaign in 2020. When a message was too outrageously deceitful for her to get away with delivering, they'd show a Repub figure stating it -- without commenting on it; also opened and closed with clips of Republican statements, deleted facts that contradicted their spin, etc.

Guessing PBS is more subtle right now but still at it. That was at the height of the presidential campaign, a time when the WSJ "journalism" pages gave up any pretense of ethical journalism and vied with the opinion pages for what they're famous for.

They gave him free publicity out the ass, and Democrats got jack shit. The more bizarre TFG became, the more unhinged and nasty he acted, the more the networks covered him for free.

TFG used the media like a junkie uses heroin, and the media just kept giving him more free time. It was Pavlov's dogs, writ large.

There used to be a “Fairness Doctrine” that required broadcasters to be balanced and prevent the exact sort of political propaganda performed by CBS News. Deliberately slanted? Certainly—this one example now brands CBS news as semi-propaganda forever in my mind and the minds of millions. All the promos in the world won’t undo that one act of deliberate deception.

That means I’ll be looking at everything CBS does in the future with a wary eye. Kinda like their logo—I’m looking at you, CBS.

and I've often bemoaned the loss of The Fairness Doctrine under Reagan -- We wouldn't have all this BS with Fox and the other Right Wing stations.

As to CBS, my understanding is thatThe Left has been suspicious of them since they fired Dan Rather during the time of the Iraq war.

that these days a fairness doctrine would be irrelevant. We don't need a doctrine of "fairness" morphing into "bothsiderism." What we need is FACTS and TRUTH.

I turned off CNN for the very same reason. Back in the day, I was watching John Kerry speaking live before the Senate - when they suddenly switched to a taped segment of some right-winger, "for balance," they said!

And I got as annoyed as you did, sent them a message saying what they did was unacceptable and that I was turning them off for good. And I have.

CNN is the king of the Trump voters focus groups. They always need to give them airtime to discuss their 'feelings' and why they vote Repug. Used to just click the remote away as fast as possible, now just do not watch CNN ever.

thousands of times on all the networks in the coming week. It would be unusual for it not to be. They all do it in just about any elections that are anywhere near close. It's done to get us to watch. And it must work or they would stop doing it. Don't read anymore into it than it's all about ratings.

On the bright side, it probably helps turn out the vote.

ABC had an item on about a Ken Burns' "documentary" on the nation needing to come together. When a strong majority wants things that aren't corporate approved then they put out these campaign ads for the guns/gays/god/
abortion/border wall drumph voter candidates because if they get elected they can get busy on installing the corporate agenda.
