"SNIP.....
Dr. Deborah Birx, who helped run the coronavirus pandemic response for former President Donald Trump, told congressional investigators earlier this month that Mr. Trumps White House failed to take steps that could have prevented tens of thousands of deaths, the New York Times reports.
Said Birz: I believe if we had fully implemented the mask mandates, the reduction in indoor dining, the getting friends and family to understand the risk of gathering in private homes, and we had increased testing, that we probably could have decreased fatalities into the 30 percent less to 40 percent less range.

(10,053 posts)vaccines until spring 2021 for most of the population. I look at our death rate in comparison, we are just under 30,000 deaths which extrapolated to your population being 10 times ours, your deaths would be around 300,000. While still an outrageous number, it is more than 400,000 less than actual deaths. I also think your death rate is far higher than what is reported because of manipulation of numbers in many red states.

(7,901 posts)not to take precautions like social distancing and masking seriously. That led to many who would otherwise NOT have been infected getting exposed. Many of those now number among the dead or disabled.
He radically understated the known risk and viscously attacked ANYONE with professional knowledge who disputed that. By doing so he further encouraged his followers to ignore reasonable behavior and advice from health authorities and others, thus creating barriers to information and enlarging the potential pool of the infected carriers.
He also put 1st responders and medical providers at extended risk which no doubt led to deaths among them as well.
There were documented plans produced at several levels of government to help cope with such an emergency. All of which Trump and his people ignored, threw out, or publicly condemned. Likewise the advice and evaluations made by the CDC and other organizations familiar with public health emergencies were muted or denied.
If we were to approach this as acts taken by a foreign government against its own population we would class it as genocide and demand justice.
