We've brought a congressional rule book to a blitzkrieg

I've been writing long rants about the Republican (permanent) takeover of America.

But I think I finally got it summed up in the headline of this OP.

Can someone please tell me that I'm wrong and that the thugs of the Republican Party can't end up being our owners within the next couple of years.

you are wrong.

We are hearing the alarms from learned and intuitive people, Steve Schmidt, Malcolm Nance, Laurence Tribe, among them.

Seems to me this is EXACTLY what happened in 2015-16 when those of reasonable mind and demeanor said, "oh no, it can't happen here."

What will be the price?

I keep wondering why our Democratic leaders are incapable of fighting Republican barbarians. (There is very little we Dem voters can do to carry this fight forward. -- We're not about to go into the streets with Tiki torches.)

There are plenty of tough Democrats out there who are willing to go head to head with the barbarians of the Republican Party. Congresswoman OAL, and others, have what it takes. Now, if the leaders of our Party would accept them and turn them loose, we may stand a chance.

This is the culmination of a sixty year long game that they’ve played perfectly and kicked our asses at every turn.

By continuing to “play by the rules” while the other side has none has been the dumbest thing the Democrats could ever do. All this high and mighty bullshit about “being better” and not “wanting to be like them” has brought us to this point. The point where we become a fascist autocracy with an evil idiot at the head.

The Constitution is a gentleman’s agreement. There are no gentlemen on the other side. No honor, no integrity, no ethics and no morals. In other words, the Constitution is meaningless if no one will enforce it. They know it, we seem not to.

This has always been about raw power. And they have been willing to do anything to achieve it. There’s no lie too low, no hypocrisy too embarrassing, no law they won’t break and no advantage they won’t take. And “our” guys have sat there and let it happen without fighting fire with fire. Without responding in kind. That’s why they think we’re soft and weak and gutless. Quite frankly, it’s hard not to say they’re right.

If I keep taking your lunch money every day and you just give it to me, there’s nothing to make me think I can’t keep on doing it. I already have the money you bring with you tomorrow spent.

You know?

I’m in a dark place.

comply with a supeana the Sheriff will knock on my door with handcuffs the next day. People like Bannon or Trump can drag it out in court for years. If they are finally arrested they don't go to a prison and share a cell with a psychopath. They go to one with a golf course.

In every jurisdiction that I know of, a person who receives a subpoena can object to it, and at that point, the party that requested the issuance of the subpoena has to go to the court to get an order compelling compliance.

Do you have an example where the day after someone, having objected (in writing) to a subpoena, has had a sheriff take them away in handcuffs the next day?

the Senate would have investigated months ago it could be saved. Americans have a short memory except for a few of us it is forgotten. Remember a large percentage of Americans now think Obama was president on 9- 11. Ask them when we fought WW2 they would say 1865. Some even think we fought Canada in WW2.

They own the microphone. With it, they shape opinion and select topics for discussion.

Why are we hearing about inflation and port bottlenecks and how businesses can't find workers the threat such things pose to the economy?

Why doesn't the media instead celebrate and marvel at 6.3% gdp growth in 2021q1 and 6.7% gdp growth in 2021q2? Why doesn't the media just tell us that the economy is booming at a massive rate?

These other things are simply obvious consequences of a rapidly growing economy and all those other things "threaten" to do is dial back the growth a bit, or take a bit of shine off it.

But no, the media can't do things that might promote a democrat! And they'll give the spotlight to the next right-wing crazy that comes along.

Even if we win in 2022, we'll lose the 2024 or soon thereafter.

Until we somehow get a more reasonable media, our doom is merely a matter of timing.

It turns the GOP into barbarians and the "people's party" into kittens.

But we won't change it, or talk about the blatant corruption it causes. And so into the dumpster we go.

So. Why aren’t the Mass Media making clear we’re dealing with TREASON?!!!!

Wealthy people, the ones who own things like Comcast, Viacom, Disney, etc... don't want their taxes to go up. They donate to both parties but they donate much more, and share much more in common with Republicans.

Do you think that the Mass Media is going to actively go against the people who sign their paychecks?

Republican policies benefits both sides. Republicans have no problem sending McDougal to jail for not answering questions before congress. Our party doesn't seem to want to hurt anyones feelings.
