Armstrong stripped of Tour de France titles

(CNN) -- Lance Armstrong is losing the seven cycling titles that made him a legend.

The International Cycling Union announced Monday that Armstrong is being stripped of his Tour de France titles.

"Lance Armstrong has no place in cycling," said the union's president, Pat McQuaid, announcing that Armstrong is banned from the sport.

The decision follows this month's finding by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency that there is "overwhelming" evidence that Armstrong was involved as a professional cyclist in "the most sophisticated, professionalized and successful doping program."

be investigated. Winning even two Tour de France titles is an immense feat, that is why I respect a person like LeMond who apparently did it drug-free. I am not sure that Indurain was drug-free for all of his titles, Indrain was a support rider that suddenly became a superman, similar to how Armstrong progressed. Doping among european riders is significant and has been around a long time, the person that managed Armstrong's doping program was a former european rider.

Is there another sport this rife with cheating and corruption...hell cycling makes boxing look squeaky clean. Is it cheating to dope when everyone else is doing it as well?

He's a jerk who treats women like crap and I don't care how good a cyclist he was. His doping history comes as no surprise to me. If you're not a good person, I don't put it beyond you to cheat.

Of course, this is just MHO.
