In 6 months. Got my statement for auto insurance. It was double. The check I mailed 29 days ago has not made it. I mail my payment ASAP every month. 12 days before due date. So I had my local agent send in card info to pay double. Called credit union to cancel payment of missing check, that fee is $25 dollars. For a $75 dollar check. Fuck DeJoy. Been paying bills by mail for 50 years. Never a lost payment, or 30+ day late one. Don’t start talking about auto pay. Cyber theft! Hackers. When trumps civil war gets in full swing and the country financial institutions collapse, I do not want my routing info accessible to companies doing a cash grab. Twice this year my credit union called me in ASAP to cancel and renew my compromised credit card. I practically never buy on line. A Social Security scam once got extremely close to draining my account. Thank God the CU caught it. I only use checks for bills though. Do not want people bitching in grocery store line. You do you. My original point is the Postal Service has been hijacked. Many seniors and veterans depend on it. The VA requires meds to be mailed. A 30 fay delay could be fatal to some. The paying by check story just exposes what is happening to a beloved system with a trump thief put in charge, that so many depend on.

I absolutely understand we live (I have lived in the US in the past) in two very different nations, cultures, and tech systems.

The e-commerce and overall online systems here in Sweden are more secure than the US one, in large part due to BankID, which you must use to access most anything of import and/or make online purchases/pay bills. A thief can have all of your personal info, even have the physical cards, etc, but cannot do anything with it without the use of Bank ID. You can set it up to be required for your own in-store purchases as well (we do this ourselves, as does everyone we know).
