exactly. i mean, why *wasn't* he taken to a secure location?

i saw this posted as a reply to a rob reiner tweet regarding your basic wtf merick garland, and i googled to see who said/wrote it. i found it on fb pages, twitter replies, and various internet webpages including here on du; posted back in mid january by edhopper with quotations and a link, there were 31 recs and only 2 replies. i don't recall seeing this before tonight on twitter (i follow rob reiner). anyway, i believe it is still relevant and, after nine months it... well, it's been over nine months!

have you noticed that, since Schiff complained about an apparent DOJ "reluctance" to prosecute Trump, we've heard almost nothing about Garland's or the DOJ's reluctance to prosecute. Why is that?

So we can and should speculate, eh? I think it's because the DOJ let out to Congresspeople that the DOJ is, indeed, criminally investigating Trump and that the investigation is expansive and serious. Now, let it be noted that I actually know nothing factual. I'm only observing human behavior and making inferences. Schiff would be making more noises if he still had the same knowledge base as he had when he complained. But apparently his knowledge base HAS changed.

The DOJ's own self-interest and the seriousness of the investigation warrants a supreme commitment to silence while the data is gathered and presented to a grand jury. And I suspect that the grand jury is being protected by the silence. There are increasing numbers of Trumpers who are getting itchy trigger fingers. There's no sense in agitating them with leaks that would be seen as endangering Trump and their goal of overthrowing the government.

combat troops, after the protests at Lafayette Square. Reporters even said he was hiding in the WH's fortified underground bunker. He also wanted to call out the military and transform the country's cities into war zones after millions of Americans took to the streets to protest racial injustice. Following January 6? Nothing.

They would keep the whole thing as quiet and hidden as possible.
They wouldn’t want to spook any of the suspects before they had enough evidence to spring the indictment.
Also they might suddenly indict multiple high level Trumpees, and possibly Trump, together.
Like rounding up all the Mafia leaders at the same time.
