Yale educated surgeon..left to Cambodia with zipties the day after attempt to buy girls in US

Ugh..anyone doubt kids were raped in Cambodia? his privilege allowed him to.victimize others

https://www.newsweek.com/surgeon-who-tried-buy-kids-off-mother-claims-he-was-high-ecstasy-laced-meth-1643589

A man in California was convicted of 16 years in prison for sex crimes including attempting to buy two young girls off their mother. The man, 38-year-old Cassidy Lavorini-Doyle, claimed he was high on ecstasy laced with meth before the incident which occurred in 2019.

During the trial, Lavorini-Doyle admitted to approaching a woman and her two daughters, ages 10 and 11, at an office building. According to police, he offered the mother $30,000 to "buy her two daughters for the night." The mother rejected and immediately called the police.

Lavorini-Doyle was at the office building to consult a financial advisor about his more than $700,000 debt, Mercury News reported. Lavorini-Doyle was briefly stopped by police after the incident but was released.

In court, his attorneys argued that he had taken six tablets of ecstasy that he believed were laced with methamphetamine before he approached the mother. His attorneys also claimed that although he had a "perverse desire and corrupt intent to have sex with minors," he never successfully did so, Mercury News reported.

------

The day after attempting to buy the two girls, Lavorini-Doyle traveled to Cambodia with $10,000 cash as well as a new camera, zip ties, and duct tape. He admitted he intended to use the money to pay for child sex acts while abroad, but claimed that he did not locate any victims during the trip. The day before he returned, police searched Lavorini-Doyle's home and seized several electronic devices.

There's guys sitting in prison right now who got stung on those "To Catch A Predator" operations who will be interested to see how this defense pans out. It takes a special kind of privileged mentality to think that just because the mother didn't sell this guy her daughters for a night, he shouldn't have to go to prison like a common criminal.

Lavorini-Doyle was ready to PURCHASE little girls and the Enforcers let him go.

Enforcers to pedophile "Go along on your way sir. Please don't do anything like this again. We promise to protect you. Did you have a place in mind where you had planned your overnight stay? Perhaps you could invite us next time."

And his excise of taking SIX tablets of ecstasy is really no excuse at ALL.

I hope he never sees outside a prison again.

Six tabs of extacy would have killed him. And what's his excuse for going to Cambodia with the same intent?

He was “convicted of 16 years in prison”?

Edited to add: My most recent favorite was a writer who mentioned the five ”burrows” of New York.

...early this week that said a guy was "shot & killed 6 times."
He was killed 6 times? How does that work?
All they had to do was move "6 times" before the ampersand. But, no.

A cut & paste error. I do that sometimes, I hate it but it happens. Still takes me a lot longer to read those because of dyslexia, I have to rearrange things as it is but when it still doesn't make sense when I get it all straight, that's when I have to go and rearrange things again. Things can be whole words or phrases or just individual letters, it's weird.

While I was in college I subscribed to a few mags and papers, Newsweek was one of them. Then they were not so biased and seeming to flail aimlessly around landing in one mess only to jump to another when called out.

..."Cambodia is often called “The Kingdom of Wonder,” but turn down certain side streets and there is a sordid world where sex is the hot commodity and children are still used as currency. It’s a country that was almost destroyed by civil war and genocide, and experts say it was out of that brutal and lawless period, following the fall of the Khmer Rouge, that prostitution and child sex trafficking began to flourish."...(more)
