The state of Oklahoma just killed a man for the first time in seven years -- and it was ugly.

CN: Death, disturbing details.

Oklahoma's last execution before the one less than two hours ago was the botched execution of Clayton Lockett, who was given untested drugs not approved for executions and suffered a heart attack as a result, at one point trying to rise from the table even though he appeared unconscious. Executions were halted for some time as a result.

John Grant was pronounced dead less than an hour ago from this posting, and already witnesses are raising questions.

Sean Murphy with the Associated Press says Grant’s last words were a string of profanities. He says when the first drug (midazolam) began to flow, Grant began convulsing about two dozen times and vomiting. He continued breathing and somebody wiped his face. He was still breathing and convulsing. At 4:15 they said he was unconscious. He was pronounced dead six minutes later. Sean has never seen an inmate vomit like this in about 14 executions. Sean said it was disturbing to watch. He said he hasn’t seen a person convulse during an execution besides Clayton Lockett. He has never seen a person vomit during an execution.

Details taken from this thread:

Earlier today, the Supreme Court lifted the stay a lower court had issued on this execution order.

Torture the living to death by:

Death penalty
Starving
Overworked
Homelessness exposure
Safety
Gun violence

No problem for those screaming about the right to life?

This was gross.

that we are less civilized then centuries ago. Wasn't it David who snuck into his enemies tent and took his spear and stuck it in the ground next to his head to indicate he had spared his life?

The violence of the wild west has nothing on these modern psychopaths. The numbers of deaths are not even close.

I think it's economics...we've monetized everything and the majority of people have no value to the minority of people.

Here's a primer on him:

I agree with the other poster that our country is regressing. I know there have always been hate and draconian laws here but this just seems like a time of who-gives-a-fuck if innocent people are killed - especially if they are POC.

This was barbaric. They say the cause of death was a heart attack but he could very well have asphyxiated on his own vomit if he was restrained and laying on his back.

Civilized nations won't allow extradition of criminals to the U.S.A. if they think there is any possibility they will be put to death or tortured and killed in U.S.A. prisons.

There's no justice in that.

It's not something we can be proud of.

We are not a civilized nation.
