Two most powerful Catholics meet

Why Biden's meeting with the Pope will be so important 02:54
Rome (CNN)The last time President Joe Biden visited the Vatican, he was still reeling from the loss of his son Beau to cancer a year earlier.

The reason for his 2016 visit was the Third International Regenerative Medicine Conference, and -- in a speech delivered with a massive bronze sculpture of the Resurrection as his backdrop -- Biden made an impassioned call for developing new cures for the disease that took his son's life.

But he also recalled a moment of kindness from his host, Pope Francis, who visited the United States in the months following Beau's death and gathered with Biden's extended family as he departed the states from the Philadelphia International Airport.
"We had just lost my son," Biden said at the start of his speech. "And he met with my extended family in the hangar behind where the aircraft was. And I wish every grieving parent, brother, sister, mother, father, would have the benefit of his words, his prayers, his presence. He provided us with more comfort that even he, I think, will understand."

They like it if the Catholic in question is staunchly anti-abortion but cringe at the infallibility assumption of the Pope and any message that hints at loving your fellow man or helping the less fortunate. Francis has the additional baggage of being from South America (a hot bed of socialists and communists according to conservatives).

Americans routinely ignore their Cardinals in many matters, including birth control and abortion.

Talbangelicals, though, seem to march to the tune spun by their favorite Televangelist stochastic terrorists.

And they were praised for it in church.

That's when they became advocates for birth control and promoters of realistic sex education.

They are still ant-abortion but they don't think it should be outlawed.

My mom was always adamant that she'd accept any accidental babies into our household -- an idea that absolutely terrified me and my siblings, as the house was already so crowded it was impossible to get any quiet or expect hot water in the shower when it was your turn. None of us had accidental babies, and overall our average family size is less than two.

Any rational adult has to accept that the best way to prevent abortions is realistic sex education and easily available birth control. The anti-intellectual "Talbangelicals" refuse to accept this. They reject realistic sex education, birth control, and abortion, regarding out-of-wedlock pregnancies as punishment from god. Their god is an asshole.

When I go to church those huge families where moms had babies every year are much less common than they were when I was a child. Smaller families are rarely achieved by abstinence and natural family planning.

You're right, in regards to birth control, few people are paying attention to the Cardinals.

The schism between fascist "conservative" Catholics and Joe Biden style liberal Catholics reflects the political schisms of the U.S.A. itself.
