He probably was going to have a hard time winning anyway, but Illinois Dems gerrymandered him away.

They were worried enough about Underwood's seat, I guess. Not sure why - she's great. Then again, a total kook almost beat her in 2020

I'm in his district.
When it was last redistricted, it made it harder for Ds to win. Too many rural voters west of us. We had a D congressperson before him. Before that there was a fairly moderate R who did a lot for the district. Before that, it was a D for many years.
So draw the lines so the west edge isn't so far west, they have to go north & south to get population right. That's more blue. So, he's done anyway.
Draw the lines west & south & he's getting into maga land, where he's unpopular. He's been primaried before & has won easily. But, out that direction, he is iffy on being the candidate.
Besides, he's a true R. Not a maniac cultist but a rigid supply-sider & deficit hawk. I've spoken to him several times, and he's a nice guy, but I'd never vote for him.

It was known almost a year ago (and I posted it here) that he intends to run for governor. That announcement will come soon.

There's was some noise down here in his district about Senate, but there's no way he beats Durbin or Duckworth, so I doubt that he does that.
Running for governor sure seems a high probability. Enough of our voters were dumb enough to vote for Rauner. Adam could win.
