It's now been one week and nothing from Garland/DOJ regarding the enforcement of the Contempt of Congress regarding Bannon. Why??!!

(146,317 posts)I hadn't heard that. I know your source is probably confidential, though, so I won't ask who it is.

(30,613 posts)If they won't prosecute terrorists with clear video evidence, why would I think they'll deal with a boring procedural case?

(146,317 posts)You could look at this DOJ page, for example:

(30,613 posts)Basically a lot of charges for being loud and obnoxious, parading, etc. Pretty much the same seriousness as littering.
I am slightly heartened by the number of assault charges.
But 100% of them miss the main point.
Not one occurrence of the words "insurrection" or "rebelllion".
Thanks for sharing.

(146,317 posts)I know you haven't read the entire list, though. It's far too long for that to be possible.

(146,317 posts)None of us have any direct information from the DOJ, I think. You could send him an email, I suppose, and ask. He's a little busy, though, so you might not get a reply right away.

(1,123 posts)doing what? The prosecution of Bannon should be his highest priority right now. I shouldn't need to "send him an email...and ask", as he should have some degree of self-awareness regarding the critical nature of such enforcement and even more so now with the fate of our democracy in the balance.

(146,317 posts)does he conduct investigations himself. He has a very large organization to do that stuff. He's just the boss of it.
Want to see who is being prosecuted currently for the January 6 Capitol breach? Go here:

Bannon's case has to do with Contempt of Congress. That won't be listed in that huge table.

(1,123 posts)he's responsible for establishing the priorities of the Department and ensuring that those priorities are being implemented by the respective USAs and AUSAs throughout the country. The list may appear impressive but when you assess the actual charges and the subsequent plea deals to date, it becomes apparent that the DOJ has adopted a policy of mitigating the exposure of the insurrectionist. You know it's a serious issue when the judges responsible for imposing the sentences are questioning the prosecutors' lenient treatment of the defendants. Entering a plea to obstructing an official proceeding, trespassing, and disorderly conduct, a de minimus fine, and probation will certainly deter them and others in the future from engaging in such acts - not!

(146,317 posts)So, no, I haven't. However, you can always count on them to go after whatever gets eyes on themselves. My answer to them would be the same as I've posted here, for all the good that would do.
Generally, I don't rely on pundits for information about things like this. It's not news. It's commentary. When I wonder about things, I search for actual information that comes from sources directly. Google makes that pretty easy.

(9,020 posts)no doubt it will take time to unravel all the bullshit and overcome the roadblocks. I actually think it is better this way than having a frantic AG that rushes out to do the president's bidding.
Waiting is hard. Justice often takes too long to outside observers. Shit, they just now settled lawsuits from the 2016 massacre by Dylan Roof, and that was ONE guy.
