for their crimes - gives the cult the green light to break laws and feel that they can get away with it.
We are becoming a lawless society. Open carry. Walking down the street with guns. Think Rittenhouse in Kenosha.
This has got to change or we'll become like the Old West.

(50,955 posts)we would have seen SOMETHING.
Some colleague would have filmed a laptop being confiscated. A third tier witness would have told a friend they testified and the friend would have tweeted something about it. Someone significant would walk into a federal building to be deposed.
Nothing of the sort is happening. Garland has made a public statement that he is worried about radicalizing the 1/6 traitors.
We aren't keeping any powder dry for the next election. No one is squirming. The good stuff is not going to be used.
Nothing is going on behind the scenes. The pile of shit we are looking at doesn't mean there is a pony around here somewhere.

(11,276 posts)Saying anything to make the stupid forget their crimes. Talk is cheap. Your in a hurry and the law and politics work slower. Big gains for us all over the country in tomorrows election. If not come back and I will squirm for you.

(8,090 posts)Did you sleep through 1/6? Bombs planted at the RNC and DNC? Recent federal agency evacuations due to bomb threats? If any one of us joked about blowing up our workplaces we'd be canned... why do members of Congress get a pass?

(11,276 posts)But you go ahead. I am a combat veteran and was wide awake on 1/6 watching my Capitol attacked, you don't know me. Maybe you should wake up and toughen up a bit.

(4,007 posts)7 f*in hearings for Benghazi. Dem leadership has never shown me any teeth, only high road, high morality, but that tack results in Repubs feeling more and more empowered.
This time NEEDS to be different, but I just wont believe it possible until I see it.

(37,160 posts)...a couple of Reagan/Bush scandals that could have used a solid review once people who potentially may have become direct targets of an investigation were no longer in a position to direct entire agencies to stonewall investigations that were in progress.
Hell, I'll raise you Daniel Patrick Moynihan declaring "America doesn't need and does not want another failed presidency" regarding Iran-Contra.

(4,007 posts)Repubs have always played by different rules, and though I dont support going to toe to toe with the same evil tactics, I have witnessed time and time again an unwillingness to play hardball on the part of Dem leadership.
There is no excuse not to pull out all stops for subpoenas and document gathering, as the stakes, IMO, have never been higher

Dodge City was one such town.

""Guns were obviously widespread on the frontier. Out in the untamed wilderness, you needed a gun to be safe from bandits, natives, and wildlife. In the cities and towns of the West, however, the law often prohibited people from toting their guns around. A visitor arriving in Wichita, Kansas in 1873, the heart of the Wild West era, would have seen signs declaring, "Leave Your Revolvers At Police Headquarters, and Get a Check."
A check? That's right. When you entered a frontier town, you were legally required to leave your guns at the stables on the outskirts of town or drop them off with the sheriff, who would give you a token in exchange. You checked your guns then like you'd check your overcoat today at a Boston restaurant in winter. Visitors were welcome, but their guns were not. """"

(5,698 posts)Remember the police pepper spraying seated WTO protestors?
Remember the insane police presence at any BLM rally?
Now. . .remember the police doing nothing at "unite the right?" Or giving the mass shooter of the black church hamburgers before taking him in? Remember George Floyd, Tamir Rice, etc.
Since police have been taken over by the right wing, expect more selective enforcement of law.
Remember in Florida, police fist bumped a man actually WEARING A SWASTIKA on his shirt.

Its past time we start remembering that, let alone acting on it.
