Yes, they're wrong. They're but if we focus on the fact that they're using the wrong term to describe what they're attacking, we distract ourselves from the real battle.
They're attacking truthful history.
They're attacking recognition of more than just white men.
They're attacking diversity and fairness and equality.
And they're trying to get government, down to the local school board level, to impose a curriculum that paint white men in a glorified light.
What does it matter that they're using the wrong term to describe that? That's just academic trivia.
Move straight on to attacking them as trying to brainwash our children with a false view of history and trying to erase everyone who doesn't look like them.
Fight the battle, not the name of the battle.

(52,253 posts)they know they are fighting for a whitewashing of american history.
they know they are fighting against anything the puts not white males on an equal footing.
they know deep down the while much of american history is great, there are things in our past that are not great at all, and they want to cover that up.
they don't give a rat's behind whether anyone calls that critical race theory of whatever. all it is is a catchphrase to them that sounds better than a more accurate catchphrase such as white supremacist student brainwashing.
as far as they're concerned, whatever it is that we might call education that recognizes the full truth of our history and recognizes all of us, not just the white males, *their* term for that is critical race theory.
they also don't really care what socialism really is, it's just their term for any democratic proposal.
we can waste time arguing about terminology, which certainly won't convince anyone of anything, or we can fight to keep truth and equality in our schools.

(32,688 posts)bitch about "Replacement Theory". In fact a bunch of em were carrying tiki torches yelling it in Charlottesville.
What if those of us on the Left showed up at school board meetings accusing them of teaching "that" in our schools? I think it would make them question what they have been doing.

talking to a brick wall trying to convince them of anything.
it's the voting population and the school boards we need to convince. getting bogged down in terminology wastes precious bandwidth.
