(40,212 posts)What they should not have the right to is paying taxes that do not reflect their wealth.
A few days ago, I heard either on CNN or MSNBC that Jeff Bezos paid income taxes on $83,000. That is just old fashioned bullshit.
Mr.Bill
(24,301 posts)And we have the right to not fund it. And when they don't pay taxes and we do, we are funding them.

(19,201 posts)the best government money can buy.
But don't raise the issue of campaign finance reform. You want to see a graph take a nosedive? 99.0% of Americans support it, but the chances of ever passing meaningful reform? Straight down. Zero.
The chance of that 1% maintaining the status quo? Straight up. 100%.
Democracy?

Dont waste your money on a shirt no one will pay any attention to, nor will it change a damn thing.
I dont know about anyone else, but I never notice other tshirts other people wear.

(12,480 posts)Prolly won't get it.
However I have worn shirts with sayings on them and they get noticed. Especially my CLAWS shirt,Cat Lovers Against White Supremacy.
That one everyone seems to like
Mr.Bill
(24,301 posts)with graphics on it. I buy blank T-shirts at Michael's for as little as $2 each when on sale.
T-shirts can be a great money maker when bought in bulk. In the 80s I was in charge of purchasing 10,000 shirts for a 10K run. With two-color printing they cost 2.80 each.

(51,308 posts)I might notice a running tshirt, maybe, but in general, I pay no attention to the clothing of others. Thats why I find a defund anything or f anything tshirt (or a tax the rich dress) to be useless. Silliness. I guess it makes the wearer feel theyre doing something.

when it should be re-allocate funds for police. If one's creativity makes you rich and you pay your fair share of taxes, you deserve what you earn.
Now a slogan that says "tax the rich fairly", I'm for that.

Mr.Bill
(24,301 posts)Which is fine. If I stimulated some discussion and perhaps a few people got a small laugh, that's okay with me. And if you havent noticed, this website is all about people who agree with each other on most things. Most threads here are playing to people who already agree with you.
Have a great day!

"The Rich" is OK, but it doesn't sound selfish enough or nasty enough.
Mr.Bill
(24,301 posts)My thought process that lead me to Defund the Rich was remembering the slogan "Eat the Rich" from decades ago. That went a little to far for me, but it was meant for shock value, I suppose.
