No one. Not one person of any relevance whatsoever. Has said that MANHOOD is the problem. Manhood (if there is even a concise definition of that concept) is a state of being that encompasses many things.
What people tend to get upset at, is when the concept and idea of "Masculinity" becomes toxic and detrimental, not only to women (though they are by far the worst affected) but to men as well. I share an example from my own life regularly with people, when we have a discussion about this:
When my oldest son was born, in the 90's, I was living near my extended family and we would have family parties regularly. There was always gambling and drinking and the men would be outside playing cards and the women would be inside talking and watching the kids, though by "watching" I mean, not really watching, and allowing us to run around wild. I always viewed my role as a father as doing anything I could to support my children's health, safety, and development. Bathing, changing, feeding, laundry, etc... were all things that I would do as a parent. Well, my uncles, who were more "traditional", would often criticize and mock me for doing, "women's work" to which I always said, "It is PARENT'S work".
Their attitude was toxic. Separating work into "men's" and "women's" and devaluing women's work as beneath men's. Like I said, first of all, there is nothing inherently "men's" or "women's" about raising a child. There are certain things that men, physiologically cannot do (like breast feed), but we can warm up milk or formula, we can prepare a bottle and feed our children. We can wash clothes and bathe our children, while the mom goes and works on the car. The problem is when you say, "women CAN'T do that..." because of tradition. Or, "women have to do that..." and that work is devalued. That is part of toxic masculinity. Discrimination and devaluing of roles based on some kind of gender tradition.
It isn't MANHOOD that is the problem. It is idiots like Hawley who promised young White men, that they would be on the top of the pyramid, but failing to deliver because their promise was hollow to begin with. It isn't feminism or "snowflake society" that has cheated these men and made them feel alienated. It is the fact that young men are not being taught to be more than the old obsolete stereotypes. Men should be able to like sports and cars, but they should also be able to be vulnerable and cry at movies without being perceived as weak, because only "chicks cry at movies". These young men are lost because they have not adapted to shifting standards of what constitute gender roles. The man is NOT the head of the family, he is an equal partner in a complex system and should be contributing anything he can to raise his children and support his partner, whether that is fixing the water heater or fixing breakfast for the kids, or maybe learning about feminine hygiene products so that he can help out in a pinch when mom is busy with other things.
There is nothing wrong with watching porn and playing video games as long as you do not adopt any of the toxic mentality that can be associated with the media. The problem with young men "retreating into ..." is that they come out angry and detached from their emotions. They come out blaming the wrong groups for their situation. They say, "women won't have sex with me..." as if they are entitled to sex. They say, "I can't be a man" when what they mean is, "I get into trouble if I degrade women, act violently, and think that men are better than women".
