(36,478 posts)I remember an episode of Deadline Whitehouse shortly after January 6, where Nichole Wallace & her fellow pundits were carrying on about how the guardrails of democracy held. Well, all except Jason Johnson, who finally got a word in & said, they barely held. The guardrails barely held. And we don't have the numbers to get a repair crew out to fix them.
Totally agree.....Its not the White house or even the House of Reps......its the Senate that controls this country.... remember that.... The Senate controls the judges, the bills, the voting, everything. The Senate must remain and must gain at least 2 seats. 52 seats is an ABSOLUTE MUST....lost the senate, and just sit and watch things crumble into dust, and I will not just sit and stare, but will call out who was responsible. We know who they are, names must be named, and primary opposition must be selected, and we must not every allow the traitorous GQP to ever have power in this country again....it will take hard work. The democrats need to flex muscles, not sit and be passive onlookers.

(10,434 posts)and it would have been step 1 - Use Manchin (D?WV) to make sure the legislative filibuster remains.
Remember, Moscow Mitch refused to turn over Senate control because Schumer wouldn't promise not to change the filibuster.
Apparently Manchin did promise and Moscow Mitch got his way.
