Sen. Lindsey Graham reportedly called for rioters to be shot as lawmakers were forced to evacuate the Senate chamber during the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
The Washington Post on Sunday published the results of a lengthy investigation: a three-part series, reconstructing in detail what happened before, during and after the riot when a mob of Trump's supporters stormed the Capitol in a bid to overturn President Joe Biden's election victory.
The second part, titled "Bloodshed," goes into detail about how then Vice President Mike Pence and members of Congress were evacuated from the Senate chamber after rioters breached the building.

According to The Post, Graham, a Republican from South Carolina, was furious that senators were forced to flee their own chamber. He yelled at the sergeant-at-arms and urged him to shoot rioters in the mob, the newspaper reported, citing a Republican senator with knowledge of the exchange.

(31,028 posts)So did Graham think if they started shooting people down they could just go ahead and count the electoral votes as if nothing happened? Their whole objective was to stop the counting of those votes.

(33,345 posts)and least they're consistent, sort of, when it's their ass that's threatened.
And they did, shooting 1 rioter to death with 1 bullet.
Graham denied saying that, no doubt. Like all GQP Senators, he's a shameless liar who knows there's zero consequence for it.

(6,011 posts)traitors as possible should have been shot that day. That first handful through the doors should have died in their tracks.

(15,303 posts)under the orders of the supposed president. Can't hold an electoral count in a national emergency, right?

(3,395 posts)And like someone here already pointed out, that was their goal, to create a lot of chaos to stop the count.
I believe the best the Capitol could have done they did. The National Guard, the military should have been called to apprehend the traitors, the fact trump did not do it increases his culpability. Why isn't that SOB in jail already? To me, that is the most dangerous thing that can happen to our Democracy, if the SOB is not put behind bars.

(2,114 posts)If Little Lindsey was in charge. How many Republican traitors was he planning to have shot?
And now that the trials have begun, does Little Lindsey feel Republican traitors should all be hung?
Asking for my friends (all the honest loyal citizens of the USA).

I'll bet Leningrad Lindsay also knew that the reps without masks were signalling that "we are with you" to the 3% and Proud Boys.
Not sure if I would rather have him tell the truth or go to jail.
Wish it was a BOTH/AND.

(2,957 posts)They've shot black people for far less. I'd say that the lives of lawmakers and staff were definitely in immediate peril that day. Shooting would have been justified.

(5,969 posts)revisionist Repubs try to downplay these events or accuse Dems of exaggerating it.
Should Graham ever try do that, one can point to his comments when he obviously must have thought his life was in danger and his reaction was basically to mow them down in a massacre.

I guess we are not allowed to get into this outside. the Gungeon. I will shut up now.
