It certainly can't if the standard remains that there won't even be a vote unless the CPC says so.

If there actually is a vote? I suspect that most progressives would vote for it. So the remaining question would be how many hold out and how any Republicans decide to stick it to the CPC.

I've been trying to be hopeful, but that's all shot now. Sure would be nice to have just a few reasonable Republican Senators who wanted to help the country enough to make him not count.

The deal was to pass both bills. Both sides agreed to vote for the other's bill containing things they didn't like.

To keep everyone in line and following up with the agreed-upon deal, their passage was linked. It should have stayed that way.

an naïve attempt to control Congresspeople, and here we are.

I fully understand the reason they were linked, and it was a mistake. We could have passed the bipartisan bill long ago, relieving some pressure to get some of Biden's agenda enacted. Then, the BBB could have been messaged a lot better. Instead, we may lose them both and don't look very competent.

I keep seeing people post that... and never cite any such "deal".

What there was... was a strategy on the part of progressives. What they should have done is make an actual deal before we ever heard specifics on the plan.

This is all just shameful. The GOP is crazy and literally rallies around nazis. Our side can't even get it together to pass a damn infrastructure deal.

It's so damn frustrating and it is no wonder regular Democrat voters are tuning out politics.

This is extra crappy on the eve of the Virginia election.

He said "entitlement mentality"

A republican talking point and destructive lying belief held by republicans.

In all honesty I think manchin might very well be a republican mole.

Republicans are evil enough to fund a repukelican in democratic clothing to create the type of shit that would harm the dems. After all they want to destroy the entire government.

Dont forget mancinis the only "dem" thats a member of ALEC. A republican think tank .

He voted with Biden,up to a point, until his agenda would make rich pigs pay ,and the poor suffer less. Then he switches position, claims he is independant..repub lite.

Also is he a dominionist?

The signs of this were there.

I want to continue to hold off on the infrastructure bill until we have both bills ready and he says he is satisfied. And I normally lean toward the moderate left. But I am tired of hearing he doesn’t like this or that. If he’s going to grandstand and kill the reconciliation bill all by himself, the infrastructure bill isn’t going to help us in 2022. If that’s the case, he needs to carry the burden of being the one to torpedo both the bills. I honestly don’t think we win in 2022 without both these bills and it is sounding more than ever like we need the leverage to assure he’s in on the reconciliation bill.

I’m also tired it’s okay when Republicans blow up the debt for tax breaks for the rich and nobody says a damn thing about it not being paid for and adding to the debt, but now that we have a bill for the people we have to worry about the all important debt (when the bill is supposedly paid for!).

The BIF is little more than a standard thing they have to pass anyway.

The new spending and true beneficial things are all in the BBB, which is fully paid for. Make Manchin sink it, don't give in.
