U.S. Democratic Rep. Jayapal says ready to vote for both bills in the House together

WASHINGTON, Nov 1 (Reuters) - U.S. Democratic Representative Pramila Jayapal said on Monday the House of Representatives was ready to vote as early as Tuesday on both an infrastructure bill and President Joe Biden's social spending and climate change legislation.

"We intend to pass both bills through the House in the next couple of days," Jayapal, leader of the House progressives, told CNN in an interview. (Reporting by Doina Chiacu; Writing by Eric Beech)

Not sure whether the statement was made prior to or after Manchin's bomb.

that President Biden came up with, how dare they fight for that when we had a watered down bipartisan bill just sitting there.

Cuz, " Nothing's better than something", by god!

In the end they all laid claim to the bill that Joe Biden wrote. All got their 15 min on MSNBS, & after that, decided now they should just go ahead & vote.

BBB was, is & will always be, Joe Biden's gift to America.

Switch back to the original strategy of passing something in the House and using it to drive the language in the Senate.

Progressives would probably do that without the infrastructure bill if the margins weren't so tight... but perhaps Pelosi can whip the moderates into line.

I think it's most likely that the House will pass BIF and a reconciliation bill like the "framework" but with prescription drugs and parental leave in it and then the Senate will pass something without either... and we'll be back the traditional game of seeing what each side gets in conference.

…the Senate will simply pass the BIF and kill BBB, and there won’t be anything to conference about.

It looks like we'll find out whether or not it's true.

I suspect that it's more likely that the Senate will pass something close to the $1.5T that he's been talking about all along.

Less of a fan of manchin and sinema.

Edit to add: if manchin and sinema represent the rightish side of the party and jayapal the leftish, I guess I’m a centrist. 🤷🏻‍♂️

No shame in falling somewhere in between the two.

Hopefully, we'll all look back on this as just an unnecessarily painful look into how the sausage is made.
